My 15 year old son with autism was hospitalized here in 9/2024 for aggressive, self injurious behavior, and home destruction. He was there for 3 weeks and we live 3 hours away. I would call every day for updates and found that often nobody answered the phone, no voicemail option to leave a message and receive a call back. I only talked to the doctor once during his stay. I feel that the staff interacted with my son minimally and when he came back he said ā€œpeople hurt you and nurse hurt you.ā€ He has limited verbal skills so I will truly never know what happened while he was there. I filed a grievance due to his complaint as he has never said this about anyone else before. It took many weeks for a reply saying the claim couldn’t be substantiated. The discharge process was very abrupt and not thorough with minimal information given. Following this stay, he wouldn’t come out of our basement for many weeks and kept saying that people/nurse hurt him. The good was that they streamlined his medication and the social worker was very kind and seemed to care. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this facility or send my child there again.

I stayed here about a almost two years ago but I have to say it was the best one. The cleanest ones that I ever stayed at. Almost everyone was really nice to me, all though I only saw "the doc" 1 time and got misdiagnosed but it was the 1st time I got sent to a place like this. But honestly it's really common in people with this disorder to get misdiagnosed all the time. But yeah I definitely for sure highly recommend this place. 3 out of 5 ⭐⭐⭐

I was here for 6 days and it was the absolute worst experience of my life. So unorganized, unprofessional, and chaotic. I was in unit A2 and there is supposed to be a women’s and male’s wing but because of their extremely unorganized staff there was only room for me to stay on the male wing. Mary has absolutely no idea how to handle the kind of work she does. The miscommunication between staff is unbelievable even when it comes to switching from first to second shift. The food was always late and most times not very good. it’s edible, but not healthy. There was only ever 2 BHA on the floor at each time (which is state minimum) which meant that if you had things the were in the back, no one could grab them for you. My first two days there was no group plus they couldn’t grab my coloring book or notebook so I just had to sit and do nothing. That was extremely stressful in a new environment. The only positive thing was a few nurses that cared about their job, but they were extremely overworked. If you care about your loved one’s recovery DO NOT SEND THEM HERE! I stayed only 6 days and the only thing I took from their was my life outside was not as bad as I thought it was. Staying here made me want to die even more.

I have been trying to contact a staff member from the time my son was admitted. Although, my son is an adult I am responsible for his well-being. It concerns me not knowing if he is being treated well. Someone should be available to answer the phones or calling people love ones back.

I was admitted here once when I was 13 and once when I was 14. I am now 20. I have mental trauma from this hospital. The first time I went, the staff was very rude to me. They were also rude to my mother. They would let other patients date and go each others rooms. They staff knew full well that it was happening too. They would barely tell us when phone time was. They constantly threaten to give you a shot if you feel anything bad at all. Anyways. So my first time there. There was a bunch of amazing patients. I’m still friends with some of them to this day. This one girl specifically. She got admitted 2 days after me. She was very very unstable. She was very aggressive. She was very mean. She had an attitude. She just needed a lot of help. So I go up and I introduce myself and right off the bat this other patient is just screaming at me. The nurses are just standing there and letting it happen so I try to walk away from the situation. The other patient grabbed me and attacked me. She poured water on me. She pushed me to the ground and started hitting me. The nurses just stood there and let it happen until she was done. Then they punished me for it. My second time going there. None of the nurses cared about anything. They were denying patients they’re meds. They were being very neglectful. I came out worse both times then when I went in. Oh and after I got discharged my second time, I heard a boy patient got assaulted by another boy patient. This place is horrible. Do not go here if you struggling mentally. This place does not care about you. They ONLY care about their money. This is not a good hospital. Tbh I don’t even understand why they’re still even open. This is such a shitty hospital to go to. So please if you or someone you know is struggling and you need professional help, don’t go here. You won’t get better here.

The staff is absolutely lovely, and the food is probably the best you're going to get at a mental institution (at least from what I heard, I've only been here). Personally, I liked the food, but none of it would likely qualify as "healthy".

If you ask for something from one of the BHAs or Nurses, be prepared to have patience, because they're required to do several hundred things in addition to helping the patients. Additionally, if you need someone to talk to one-on-one, you need to find a social worker. They'll listen, and are probably the most helpful in defending your case, but you'll have to catch them because they, too, are always working.

The only problem I had was with one of the doctors. He was clearly in the job only for the money, and has a tendency to keep patients with private insurance longer than needed. Meanwhile, he'll release medicaid patients before they're fully healed. He's dismissive, hypocritical, and has a tendency not to listen or learn about his patients. He'll say he'll do things but doesn't pull through, because he assumes his scribes will do everything he says in passing. For example: I had vomiting & diarrhea one day, and he said the medical doctor would see me later in the day. The medical doctor never did. There was never a request put in. Thus, I spent the day tethered to the toilet. Needless to say, communication is lacking.

IF you decide to check yourself into this hospital, I recommend requesting Dr. Chaatwal, because I've only heard good things about him. If you get Dr. Kheir....good luck.

I just got out of this hellhole today and my stay was horrible. The food sucked and was served cold food, raw chicken, slimy food, and even expired food. No privacy at all, doors open at all times, can't even get a few minutes of sleep without staff walking into the rooms and scanning the "beacon", the gym is "locked", so you can't even exercise while there. Gave small quantities of food but high amounts of unhealthy snacks to attempt to fatten other people up. When my parents didn't consent to me taking melatonin because they tried to slip antidepressants in, the staff lied to my father and told him I wasn't participating and that I was being depressed. Staff was also rude to my parents while calling, with even multiple recorded calls for evidence. There was lots of drama there which the staff did not even try to handle and actually encouraged, but most of the people I was there with were nice, but most of the staff sucked but a few. We didn't do therapy much so if your goal is to get help and get better, this place would be useless for you or your kids. Boring place with mostly only watching movies all day and short groups. They also tried to discharge me late but when my father told the place I had a lawyer, the place automatically let me leave as soon as possible, but theres people at the place who currently don't have access to lawyers and they"re staying longer. The "therapists" were useless especially "Doctor" Ramen. they just questioned what happened and gave limited advice. Beds were uncomfortable and it was hard to sleep. Honestly, this place is horrible, don't EVER send your kids here unless you want them to have nightmares about this place for the rest of their lives.

Just left this disgusting place earlier today. It’s the worst rated mental hospital in the state with a 2.2 star rating. I was in peds 1 and it was a disaster. My first day I was pretty quiet and I thought it was okay. After a couple days I realized how evil and awful the staff and this place is. The door rooms have to stay wide open and the staff will come in randomly in the middle of the night to scan your beacon. There’s a gym mat with magnets on it for a bathroom ā€œdoorā€ and when I had asked to use a different bathroom because I was uncomfortable staff told me no and told me to get back in my room. You get a thin sheet with a thin blanket and a bookshelf that’s huge. There’s a window bht you can’t see outside because blinds are covering it and it’s like that throughout the entire building. You have to ask for water which is a tiny cup and they get mad when you constantly need to refill it. There’s so much bullying and rumors going around this place it’s insane. The rooms are locked at all times unless it’s time for hygiene or ā€œrest timeā€ staff would constantly yell at us for getting out of our seats which is a plastic uncomfortable hard box chair basically. In my room there are engraved things in the wall saying ā€œkill this place its deathā€ ā€œget me out of hereā€ ā€œbyeā€ ā€œhelp meā€ staff treat these kids terrible and it’s clear they only do it for money. The food is so unhealthy and disgusting. Once a burger was red. A hotdog was burnt black. Another burger looked like melted plastic on top. We have made so many complaints to the kitchen and it’s as if they don’t care and they won’t change. I know there’s been at least 14 complaints just about the food here. This place is disgusting.

Go up
