I honestly wish I could give no stars at all because the one person that should’ve helped me the most was never there for me. If you get Candace Edmond as your advocate and you’re not black switch immediately before she makes you a joke and kicks you out for NO REASON. I had a full proof plan to get on my feet and the week before she smiles and hands me a signed exit letter. I’m horrified that she is an advocate. She laughed at my ideas, lied to me about why she kicked me out saying I had an unapproved night out on a day I left for lunch. It’s ridiculous that she didn’t reach out to me at all because if she did she would know that I didn’t need much more time. Oh yea and my car is dead and they wouldn’t let me wait inside in the waiting room. I’m currently standing in the freezing cold waiting for a tow truck to no where. Thanks for nothing.

Loved the advocates! They stay up all night and day to help and serve their community. They deserve a raise and more help at night. They really are doing gods work! And we all appreciate everyone's donations they go straight to the people who need and will use the help! Which they were more people like you in the world! THANK YOU ALL

My time here consisted of a total of 6 weeks and I do appreciate the opportunity to stay awhile.
However, it was difficult for me to manage their kitchen rules with making everyone's food they cook a free for all once it hits the frig. I don't have money to buy food for others who can't feed themselves on their own.
Another area I feel needs alot of work at Harbor is the advocates. There seem to be so many of them it's just hard to keep track of everyone, and, at least for myself, I wasn't given ANY assistance whatsoever to get myself on a proper housing list that actually provided me with what I needed....which happened very quickly after I left once I connected with the right person through my own efforts. I personally think they don't really care about those who stay there.....just shuffling each individual on through the system and out the back door. I spoke to more than one person staying there that never had an advocate help them with any of their personal needs as far as advancing positively forward.
I just don't like to see women in crisis being treated like this....

I had been abused physically and mentally for 20 years when I went to Harbor House. I was a mess mentally and didn't trust anyone. Through their help and kindness I had a safe, and clean place to stay until I was able to get low income housing. They were all so wonderful, bless them all 💖

I appreciate what they do, but I’m a little upset. We had a bunch of very gently used and new shoes and some new clothing we wanted to donate they wouldn’t take any of it. They said they wanted brand new with store tags. I understand that the ladies here have gone through hell, as well as the kids and they deserve all the best that they can be given, but I’m drawing of the line at only new clothing all the rest of us out here struggle just as much as anybody else Does if you guys think that I’m gonna go out and buy brand new clothing when I can barely forward that myself you Out of your damn minds I had thought about donating money as well, but forget that!! Absolutely ridiculous

Less of a safe haven and more of a psych-ward, staffed by the audience of the Jerry Springer show.
