With the recent passing of our mother, our family has taken time to reflect on how her final years were so vastly enriched. This occurred not only with the support of immediate family, but also through her second family. We entrusted Mom's care to Green Acres of Ionia. It didn't take long to realize that this was the right choice. This facility has created a culture of caring and love. Her caregivers first became friends and then evolved as part of the family. Not only did we appreciate the respect Mom received, but also, the extension of that to us, throughout her years residency. Thank you, Green Acres. Hats off to all the wonderful staff that created such a positive experience for both Mom, and our family.

PLS READ FOR CONSIDERED FUTURE RESIDENTS.
I have a question for management, how does it feel that your staff members continuously give residents the wrong medication? (We’re all human, and make mistakes, we understand but it has been reported multiple times that people are given the WRONG MEDICATION) .
And why does your staff have to treat your customers so poorly when someone is concerned about their 90 year old mother taking the wrong medication? Someone could’ve gotten hurt!!! Or worse.
Are you aware a family had to leave your property? Or just not care enough because maybe you’re at the end of your career and done with this job.

I'm currently being harassed online by an employee here who I don't even know. I don't even live in Ionia county. Her name is Makayla Shafer and she has been cyber stalking me and threatening me all day and I just wanted to stop. I recently called to talk to one of her higher-ups to see if something could be done and the woman who answered the phone says that they don't mind their employees acting this way as long as it's not on the clock but who knows how this girl is treating the people in her care when no one's looking if this is how she treats people she doesn't even know outside of work.

I could not imagine a better assisted living facility. The staff here is amazing. They give my mom - and really the whole family - a lot of attention and have taken the time to get to know us. It seems as if the staff are constantly assessing the particular needs of each resident and adjusting their care accordingly. They're very responsive to the specific needs of each individual. The food served here is top notch; far better than any other facility I have seen. And the daily activities are fun and well attended. The other residents are friendly and social. It's really just a fun, relaxed retiremement community atmoshpere. I especially appreciate the caring, positive, helpful attitude of each of the staff members, and I am impressed with the high staff morale. The owners and managers must be doing a great job to have such motivated and professional staff.

My parents moved into a cottage at Green Acres Ionia in late July, 2015. The cottage was clean, well laid out, and a wonderful option for them at the time. Eventually they moved into the apartment building and enjoyed their time there, enjoying the meals (especially the desserts!), visiting other residents, and telling the family how the employees were so kind and helpful. The family realized the need for more care for both parents and they were moved into the assisted living building. Praise God two units opened up at the same time and they were right next to each other! Moms health continued to decline, and the staff was excellent about keeping the family current on her status. Mom passed away in May 2016 and we miss her every day. Dad is in the assisted living building and will be 92 in April. He enjoys the meals and the care he receives. He participates in some exercises, bingo, and loves it when someone plays the piano. We are all so thankful that Dad is in a safe, pleasant facility. The staff is topnotch, Bobbie, Robin, and all of the direct care workers, cooks, maintenance, and everyone else treat dad and the family with great respect, honesty, and some humor mixed in! Dad mentions one direct care worker in particular who visits him in the evening. She colors with him, listens to his life stories, plays guitar for him (he received a guitar for Christmas and she will be helping him learn chords), and recently has been reading him a book our Mom put together several years ago about the Eckman family. Dad has macular degeneration and can't read very well, the fact that she is reading the book to him touches our hearts so much. Thank you Nicole Merklinger for the time you spend with our Dad, it means a lot to him and us! Dad enjoys his neck massages and listening to books on tape. Thank you again for your excellent care! Green Acres is the "Place to Be"!

Green Acres was an amazing choice to have my grandfather go. He was cared for amazingly, and most importantly, he was loved for. I appreciate everything GAI has done for my family. Phenomenal team!
