The Goodwill Employment Assistance program is a DISGRACE. The center assistants tell people they derive all these benefits from going through their training program instead of being direct hires.
I am a former Goodwill employee, who left on good standing from direct employment in a specific department. They treated me fine.
HOWEVER, the four people I know who the employment center convinced to go through their "paid-trainee" program, where they hire one for far less than minimum wage, part-time, for "90 days to full employment" are COMPLETELY EXPLOITED. They're under impossible scrutiny, constantly changing rules and conditions, the constant threat of dismissal, and harassment by corporate inspectors who come to the job site unannounced and make instant demands on the employee contradicting store policy and their own manager's directives so that WHATEVER THEY DO WILL BE HELD AGAINST THEM.
There is ZERO FLEXIBILITY. THEY'RE IN A CONSTANT SUDDEN-DEATH situation, where if you get sick, get in an accident, lose a limb, kid dies, no matter what... YOU'RE FIRED.
GOODWILL, the brains behind this scam, SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES...AND POSSIBLY INDICTED.
