I'll be nice enough to give two stars because the interns are incredibly friendly. However the communication between staff and the director is appalling. They don't really do a lot of actual advocating for you unless you are timid and have no opinion about anything, then they seem to fully have your back. If you are any kind of strong they will not appreciate that at all. Advocates pick favorites, not a soul on staff follows the policies. Confidentiality was broken numerous times, and most days you can expect to be triggered and traumatized further than you already were. They are not empathetic or understanding and the place is filthy. If I had a dollar for every time I heard "I see you, I hear you" and nothing was ever done I'd be rich if I had a one for every "I'm in a meeting" id be rich. Do not go here expecting to feel safe, because they will not be the answer. Don't expect them to solve your grievance complaints either, they'll just ignore it. They'll give you 30-60 days and exit you out regardless of your safety without a concern at all for where you are going next. In all honesty they should have a complete overhaul of staff and the director. Funding is definitely not going to the clients...

Donated hundreds of dollars worth of formula here.
My husband dropped it off on his way into work, and the woman at the door was incredibly suspicious of my husband even though he told her that his wife called about donating formula that we were brining in.
Hopefully it goes to a good place, but a rather rude staff.
Disappointing.

I was going through the toughest time of my life when I sought refuge at Golden House. I got everything I needed from this place. Support, advocacy, compassion & shelter. This was 4 years ago & I still think of my experience there very fondly. Words can’t explain how much you all really helped me. Thank you.

This place is amazing, supportive, helpful, and very informative. After being in the worst relationship of them all, I sought out help here. I didn’t feel safe anywhere I went. I utilized a few different services, however I find myself thanking my counselor/therapist all the time and knew a review was a must. If you’re feeling anxious, nervous, scared, ashamed, don’t. Everyone in this building is sweet, kind, loving, and compassionate. I am so blessed to this day to have had the counseling/therapy I did that taught me about red flags and toxic behaviors, Amongst many other things as well as digging into my past, and realizing why it seemed things happened to me how they did. If it hadn’t been for the Golden house, I have no idea where I would be today. But because of them, not only have I become stronger, more sensible in my choice of people, and more confident in everything in life, but I have been able to help so many other people who are going through abusive situations. Thank you golden house 💜

They'll have a room for you because the building is very dirty! There is Blank mold on the ceiling in bathroom D. The staff doesn't really care about you or have time for you even if you need help. Do not expect to have help healing here. If you have young children, do not bother. They don't have safe beds or any accommodations for little ones. No changing table in the bathrooms. They don't have time for you but expect you to bend to their every request. They will help themselves into your room and invade your privacy in the middle of the night regularly! This place causes more harm than good. Go to Harbor House if you need to find somewhere decent.

The Golden House accepted my classes offer to do periodic volunteering as a service project for our college course. They were extremely kind and informative. I could tell that the place was run well and the staff cared about their work. I think the Golden House is a terrific and necessary asset to the community and I want to thank them for allowing me to be a part of the positive impact they have on people's lives. Thank you Golden House!

This facility should be called the house of angels. The staff is so sweet, nice, caring, compassionate, wonderful, etc..... They will help you with anything that thay can and if they can't they will find someone who can. It is wheelchair accessible, being in one mysel, I had no problems getting around. This is a safe loving place for women in a domestic violence situation to come. God lead me here and I know it was where I needed to be at that time. I now have my own place, a divorce in action, and health care. Without this place I don't know where I would be or what would have or what would still be happening to me.
