Was told they would help me with furniture. I needed due to a situation that I was put into by the state of Maine.
All I had to do was pick it up from Portland.
Waited 2 and a 1/2 months to be told. Buy furniture friends, no!!!, we will not help you! Absolute total scam.

My love moved into an apartment and needed furniture . She reached out to her case manager , who put her in touch with furniture friends . There was some confusion about stuff being delivered , and my loves apartment has space limitations . So she was able to schedule a time to go pick up what she needed . She and I went there and the guy we dealt with was very helpful and even helped loading up the uhaul van that we rented . I noticed a desk that I fell in love with ( even though I had just bought a used one from A Good Cause ) . I was fairly insistent on getting the desk , and the guy let us have it . I kept that desk and gave the one I had just paid $65 for to my love 💓

Sad to see a single one star review for a nonprofit that does such good work in our community. I have heard they can be a bit picky regarding furniture that is in rough shape, but I think that is with a very good reason. What message does it send to new Mainers, or people struggling to afford furnishings if we offer them a couch that smells like cat pee, or a table that is all scraped and beat up? The idea here is to donate extra furniture that someone will be proud to have in their home. Furthermore, by reducing the amount of furniture that goes to the dump, they are doing a great deed for the environment.

Very good service to offer. It is good to know that the couches and chairs we can't use anymore will find a good home with people that need them.
