Labor day visit to the San Pedro house and river walk was very disappointing to say the least. First we noticed that the gardens next to the parking lot were so overgrown with weeds that we could hardly read the signs that identify the natural vegetation. Next we noticed that one of the old buildings were fenced off so we couldn't get close to it. It looked as if it was falling apart instead of being repaired for preservation. The path to the river was beginning to be overgrown with weeds.
We had been there several times in the past years and thought it was beautiful and well taken care of. We were very disappointed in the decline in upkeep of our local asset.

San Pedro River has several scenic trails including one very close to the river. The variety of birds is amazing. During our last visit we saw hummingbirds hovering near the river. One of our favorite birds there is the Vermillion Flycatcher. Overall a very beautiful landscape in all fours seasons especially late summer after Monsoon. We also like buying supplies at the Bookstore, they have the best hummingbird feeders.
