Foothills United Methodist Church is an absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding! As a photographer and videographer, I really appreciated their friendly attitude and no restrictions. The warm, inviting atmosphere helped create a memorable day for everyone involved. If you’re looking for a picturesque and welcoming place for your wedding, I highly recommend Foothills United Methodist Church!

I loved Foothills when I attended there. At the time Rev. John Farley was Pastor. I found the congregation to be welcoming and most were friendly. It was a “higher scale” with more than average having college degrees and in a higher economic group. That said, the sermons were down to Earth and enjoyable and to the point. I attended two years before joining because one of the Associate Pastors said, God was “Awesome”. Coming from my Baptist upbringing it didn’t seem that was the “right way”, to refer to God. So I attended, watched and listened. At Christmas they hosted a reenactment of Christ’s birth, outside for the community to watch. They featured live animals in the manger, where children could pet them after the play. I met several women, when I volunteered, as they did, to be shepherds on the hill, tending our wooden cutout flock. It was a rewarding experience and we repeated it a few times. On Maudlin Thursday, (the night before Good Friday)
many of us gathered for a Seder Meal. I found it interesting and educational. It’s a church for families and singles alike. I think it’s important to attend a church that has a history and “fellow churches”, you can go from city to city and still find a Methodist Church. You can count on a Pastor who has graduated from a Seminary College and knows what he’s talking and teaching about. That he Believes in God, Jesus Christ as His Son, who God sent to forgive our sins and be our Savior. I moved to AZ to care for my Granddaughter, so my daughter could go to Nursing School. The “start up” churches here, are pretty much everywhere these days, and can’t compare to a UMC, Baptist, or Congregation Church. I took a nine month Bible course at Foothills and learned so much more about the Lord’s Book. If you’re in the neighborhood and live on Mt Helix, El Cajon, La Mesa or Rancho San Diego, I would highly recommend giving Foothills a try. It’s been twenty years or more since I’ve been able to attend there. I would bet though, there’s still a Welcoming Source there, who would love to greet you any Sunday.

Very lovely setting. I was passing out flyers for a new nonprofit dance studio, Blossom&Bloom in La Mesa. I briefly spoke with personnel at the child care and the pastor of the church. I mentioned to him that the campus looked beautiful and ready for learners. Anyone looking for childcare would be smart to check out Foothills United Methodist and its childcare programs.

I have been attending at the church for 2 years. Great teaching from pastoral staff and really great music both from contemporary and traditional services. Congregation is not huge, so you won't feel lost in a huge crowd. There is a school here for wee ones. Kind, open and inviting people.

My church. My home. I am so proud of the ways this congregation exemplifies Jesus’ command to take care of others and open our hearts to all. The former El Cajon church is now the Good Shepherd Ministry Center, with a thriving food pantry feeding over 300 folks weekly, clothing service, youth and children’s programming, housing for a refugee family as they work the asylum process - and the center is always looking for new ways to help the community. We are open, supportive and welcoming to ALL people. If you are looking for a church home, we have something to feed you.

Traditional services like I attended as a youth with grandparents. Familiar hymns, refreshment fundraiser after the services. Plenty of parking, with parking security while you enjoy the sermons. Children stay with general congregation for hymn singing then depart for their own sunday school for remainder of sermon. Opportunity to meet and greet pastor after sermons.

I am absolutely disgusted by the outcome of their merger with the First United Methodist church in El Cajon. A woman who ran the bread program for decades, which helped not only the homeless, but those of us on social security or disability, who are simply trying to make ends mean, was literally told to pack up, and get out, from what i was lead to understand. In fact, she was recorded without her knowledge, giving out bread when she wasn't supposed to. If ever there was a travesty of justice, this is it. Plus, isn't it part of Jesus' mission to feed those less fortunate? Or has that part been dropped from the bible? Isn't it more important to do what's right, and not what's politically correct I will NEVER go to this church EVER! They DO NOT represent my Jesus, or follow what he would want. This is a very poor excuse for a church that is supposed to be following, teaching, and living by what Jesus preached and showed. I can't even imagine anything more sad than that.

You people need to think about the example you are showing to our communities!!

Beautiful Church. Warm and welcoming people. The service is wonderful and blessed; easy to understand the Sermon. I love when either of the Pastors sit on the altar steps and talk with the children.
