Food gatherers is a amazing organization that collects food donations from various places/stores who otherwise would throw out usable food. there are also Community Gardens that specifically grow food and donate it to this organization so that people can have fresh produce.
Food Gatherers then serve as an organizing space and sorting space for all of this food and redistribute it to food pantries and organizations in the Ann Arbor and surrounding towns. Run by great staff and volunteers. It is a wonderful place to do some community service and volunteering. Last donations are only accepted 15 minutes before closing time.

Worst facility ever, Doors are empty and they won't unload me. No one besides me at the facility and the staff is sitting in their cars chilling using their phones. I hope someone from management sees this and do something about their staff.

I've driven past this place numerous times over the years but never went inside until this morning as part of a volunteer group event. I had no idea this was one of the first food rescue operations in the country, and they've made a huge difference in Washtenaw County since opening in 1988 to divert usable food that would have gone to the landfill. Instead, they distribute tons of food, including fresh produce, healthy protein sources, and a wide variety of options to dozens of food banks, schools, and other needy destinations. Their facilities are modern, clean, and very efficiently run by dedicated staff and volunteers. Very impressive and worthy of community support!

This organization is well managed and has been a magnificent blessing for people. They are also open for volunteering work, so we can contribute to society.
The room for fresh produce sorting is very clean and cold, similar to a surgery room. They make sure the produce is well treated and decent until distributed to all who need it.
