I used to work at this Y when I was in highschool and actually enjoyed working there. It was clean, the staff who worked there were nice. Things have changed.
Thank God we are now moving out of the area and can go back to having a decent gym that has kind staff. The staff at Feith are rude, and certainly my husband and I have rarely felt welcomed. I get a smile from the staff once out of every 7 visits. When I smile at them I usually get a look like, what are you doing here? They are usually only smiling at my baby.
Every time I've used the drop off child watch center, my son he has gotten so sick a couple days after being there. Like the worst sickness he's ever had was always from this place. Makes me wonder if it's ever cleaned? The women who work in there are fantastic though. They are always so kind and accommodating ❤️.
The women's showers are really gross. Covered in mold and whole bunch of old soap and thick limescale and hair. I'm going to find a way to post pictures of what this looks like. When I worked there, they used to have people come in and actually clean all that stuff off. It looks like it hasn't been cleared in years! Even their new family locker rooms which are beautiful and we're clean are already looking grungy. The diaper changing table had poop on it and the shower curtain was slimy to the touch.
Another time I was wearing a loose crop top and leggings while working out out. Then had the woman who runs the fitness center tell me I need to cover up because this is a family establishment. I then ask her if shes going to ask the other two females wearing the exact same thing to do the same. I was showing the tiniest but if stomach, my leggings covered my belly button. (There was nothing else showing, I always do the squat test to make sure my leggings aren't seeing thru. My crop top was loose but not so loose you could see anything if I moved the right way. Plus I did have abs at the time and was really proud of them so I wanted to subtly show them off). She then proceeded to tell me it's a hygiene thing because my skin is touching the equipment. I then ask her , "if it's because of hygiene and my skin is touching the machines (which I wipe down after I use every time) then she needs to talk to every man with open tank tops who's back and chest touch all of the equipment."
I felt like she was singleing me out because she came back the next day and said, you just should not wear that stuff, you have a beautiful body but just don't, this is a family establishment . Meanwhile 5 other women are walking past me wearing the same thing.
I'm someone who's struggled my whole life with eating disorders and self image. It took me 5 years of hard work and dedication to get the body that I wanted and never felt more ashamed and embarrassed about my body after being at this Y.
Now their pool is completely useless. And their hours to use the pool is even more dumb. You have to call aheinyo reserve a lap lane to swim ( there are only two currently and they arent even the normal length of 25 yards, it's 22 yards and the deepest part is 4 ft. And over half the time you can't even use the shallow end for your kids. The pool is already so small. The waterworks center where water comes out of that kids play with is so rusty and huge paint chips fall off into the water. The wheel that they can spin is broken and my son nearly got his finger stuck in. And again everything is dirty. From the floor to the railings.even the pool noodles are so worn with bite marks on every single one and so old they don't really float because they hold onto water. Has not been maintained since I left the Y at all.
Again, I used to work for this particular center and loved working there. It's sad to see it go downhill so much from the lack of basic cleanliness to then having even moderatly welcoming staff members. I don't know if I was just unfortunate with every visit or maybe I over analyze things but I thought I would just post my experience at the Feith Family Y.
