The foundation has received positive feedback from clients who have benefited from their services. One client noted that the EFGC has been a great help in getting them disability benefits, DORS, and encouraging them to work with their epilepsy and get off disability. They have worked for over 27 years and have become independent with the neurological assistance as well. Another client praised the foundation for their support and understanding, stating that they have made a significant difference in their lives.

Despite the positive reviews, some clients have expressed concerns about the lack of awareness and education surrounding epilepsy, as well as the limited resources available in certain areas. I have Donated before using the pick up service. However the most recent months i have attempted to donate there has not been anyone picking up the Clothes. I've attempted about 3 times always had my bags of clothing out on my front porch at 7am and no one picks up the clothes. The last attempted I called while waiting and still no one came. I really appreciated the pick up service this organization provided but it seems the driver may have other business going on. Sadly I will no longer attempt to donate to this organization. Consider looking into the Driver whoever is responsible for picking up the items.

Yesterday I hauled out 6 bags and boxes and made sure they were ready by 7am. Nothing was picked up and it’s not the first time. The weather was nice and sunny.

If they run the charity the same way they do their pickup service for donations I would say question the donation. I called more than 3 weeks in advance to get large furniture items I wanted to donate picked up. I had several subsequent calls to confirm the date/instructions for pickup to include the day before the pickup. On every call I reconfirmed that the items would be inside the driver needed to knock on the door - every time those instructions were confirmed. On the date of pickup the driver just didn't show up nor did I receive a call stating they could not pickup. I wasted an entire day on this. When I called the response I got was "we can't tell you why we didn't pickup. Would you like to reschedule?" Seriously? I wasted an entire day and they had to nerve to ask if I want to reschedule. I will be sending my goods and monetary donations to other organizations. It's clear this organization doesn't care if they receive donations or not.

Donation Pick-up Review
So far, so very good. I have never had any problems. Donated a few times in past years - - three times this year.

Scheduled the pick-ups this year online. There were a few dates I could choose. They emailed me the day before the pick-up and made the pick-ups on the scheduled dates: the first one was not until nearly 6 pm--made me a bit anxious but still was before "dusk" ; the last two were picked up by 2 pm.

On occasion, I get an email that they will be in my area, but they do not get too pesty with the emails. I find the emails helpful.

Anyway, don't be too scared off by other reviews. You might have good luck donating to them also.

I can't even give this organization 1 star but that's the only way I can post this review! This is the second time the Epilepsy Foundation has failed to make a scheduled pick-up. I spoke with a representative the day before the pickup was scheduled to confirm that it was on the list and to ask that the driver be notified to ring the bell( the items were in the first floor foyer of this building) since Chicago law prohibits putting items on the curb of boulevards. The representative told me that would be fine. I also put a sign on the door for the driver to ring the 2nd floor bell for admittance. After no pickup was made, I called the organization again to find out the status and was told that the truck had been there but since there were no items "on the curb" the driver kept going. The representative also stated that "the drivers are not allowed to ring a bell and the items must be outside" -- even if it's against city statutes. I know that this isn't true because I have had them pick up items in the past. If this is a new policy, then certainly their employees should know about it.
I guess that they only want to pick up in suburban areas-- not in the city.
Since the items were in a common area of the condominium, I now have to drag over 20 boxes and bags back up 2 flights of stares. Needless to say, I'm done with Epilepsy Foundation and will also inform my friends, family and neighbors in the Hyde Park community not to support this organization.

I am truly disgusted with how I was treated. I called numerous times to make sure that they were aware that I have furniture and two people were needed. They came and picked up my bags and left my furniture. I had to remove my outside furniture and collect the furniture I was going to donate. Had to have a second person help me bring all the stuff outside and made sure it was on the front porch. Everything was clean and properly labeled for pick up. Now they tell me they can come back in three days! I am supposed to log on my furniture back inside had it sitting in my living room and then log all the stuff back outside in three days! And the big thing is, they cannot tell me why! They cannot tell me anything! You mean to tell me with cell phones you can I call the truck driver and have him swing back and pick it up? Or at the very least, informed me why? I need a phone call from somebody from this company before I take this to the news station. I am that irate! The front of my house looks like I'm moving and I put up with this for a good cost and this is what I get! Who is going to come help me bring the furniture back in and out?

Made an appointment for Nov. 4th to pick up like maybe 15 boxes at my parents house I description/comment box stated that they would be infront of garage door that garage is in the alley behind house. Driver passed by the house but didn’t even try to stop or go thru alley my dad saw and ran to try to get his attention no luck. Called right away asked lady if she could call guy to go back and I had given instructions on where boxes were she said “no sorry we don’t call drivers so you have to reschedule for next Thursday “ we were so mad because my mother had picked/fixed boxes people went thru boxes and left a mess even though they were labeled for epilepsy foundation!
So made app for next Thursday the 11th next week comes I called Wednesday day before to confirm app because Thursday was Veterans Day and asked if they were open and will pick up because it’s a holiday, guy that answered said oh don’t worry mam we will pick up. My mom called Thursday to get an estimated time because it was raining and boxes were all wet, and guess what office was closed because it was a holiday!
You need better people in office and drivers! My parents struggled to take them boxes out then in again and then on the 11th my dad changed to new boxes. But don’t worry called another company/organization that will be picking up from now on. And no I don’t need your comment stating you’re sorry we had that experience focus on hiring better people!!
