I called here after being recommended by some 800 number or another and the receptionist told me TO GOOGLE A THERAPIST. I need money and would love your job. 😅

El Hogar was very rude and disrespectful to me when I simply was trying to walk in and get linked up with a psychiatrist. She started laughing while she was talking to me. Someone who suffers from severe mental health, PTSD, anxiety, major depression, and bi polar for someone who works at a country mental health program to be so hurtful when they are supposed to be here to help doesn't make any sense. I can't believe they would hire people like this. I'm already feeling suicidal sometimes. I really just need some help and I'm trying to do everything I can to get support. I was referred to El Hogar, and they are unbelievable. I can't comprehend how an employee names Brooke, at the Auburn Blvd location can be working in a position to help people who suffer from mental health disabilities, and for her to make me feel very uncomfortable to the point that I even have to write this complaint. I would highly recommend anyone who need mental health services, or looking to get linked up with a psychiatrist to not go to El Hogar, especially the location on Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights CA. I left the building crying after the interaction. I called on the phone to schedule the best time to walk in, and Brooke first spoke to me on the phone. After I got there at the scheduled time she said would be perfect to come in, after driving 30 minutes to get there. She told me it's too bad that I wasted my time and I had to leave and try again another day. Those weren't her exact words. She spoke to me and talked to me very rude and disrespectfully while she was rolling her eyes, and laughing at me. I have no idea why she had to act that why. I don't think any person deserves to be treated the way I was treated today unfortunately, especially for a front desk employee that deals directly with mental health patients... I really hope this complaint reaches the right people, and can prevent anybody else from having to be treated as poorly as I was today. This is the worst place I have ever been to in my entire life, especially for a mental health provider contracted by the county of Sacramento. I really hope the country does not renew their contract. Reading all of their negative reviews, I have to completely agree with every single one of them. If I could give less than a one-star review, I absolutely would.

I'm a new client here as of twenty twenty three. I feel like i'm unimportant. The people here keep giving me resources that are not available and don't work. I'm sad and I hate being alive. The system is broken and doesn't work. If the system did work, resources that were provided to me would be there. Every resource that this mental health agency has given me so far is a dead end road.

I am usually a very very patient person, having dealt with being the sister of a schizophrenic younger brother who is also an alcoholic through all my adult life. Having lived in three different counties and dealing with 3 different mental health programs and psych appointments, psychotropic injections, etc., I’ve had to be patient not just with being his primary caretaker but also his sister. In all these years I’ve never had to deal with the level of inefficiency related to his appointments and now IHSS paperwork with El Hogar. I even had to complain verbally to his psychiatrist, Amy, who IS AMAZING, but asked her to please relay my concerns to a higher level in their facility. That obviously has not helped - they need to replace whomever is in charge of their office inefficiency. It’s the absolute worse I’ve ever dealt with in 40+ years!!! I do have to admit there is only one individual in the office now who seems to know what she’s doing - her name is Suzanne - I’m sure she’s a fairly new hire and I pray she can hang in there having to work with a team if inept office staff.

I have had nothing but problems with their mental health staff. On my first appointment, I accidentally showed up 15 minutes late because I thought my appointment was 8:30 rather than 8:00. No joke, my social worker yelled at me in the lobby. As a person visiting to deal with a mood disorder, this was extremely traumatic. After the first visit,I had to visit one of the psychiatrists to refill my medications. This was fine, but every subsequent contact with El Hogar has been a veritable nightmare. I had an appointment changed on me and when I left a message in response, I never heard back. Even though they changed my appointment time with less than 24 hours notice, they still count this as a "No show". Now, I need medication refills but they couldnt schedule an appointment for over two months. Guess whose fault that is?
Summary of this story: if you can get treatment elsewhere, go there. This place is a joke.

You have to be consistent here to get assistance... very long wait to get an actual physician appointment 3-6 month wait...no actual therapy... applied and completely filled out all forms & applications for their homeless assistance services... which was Promised to have a home (apartment) by: "August 1st". That date came and went without anything...3 weeks later...this same case worker denied ever stating that... suggestion? Try recording all conversations and meetings... Nothing Worse than being down and out overloaded with anxiety...then your personal case manager making false promises

Today I met Alicia. What a wonderful person with such personality. We talked and she understood that life is a journey and its what you make it to be.

They do not send the medication to the pharmacy right after your appointment. They wait until the next day, which should NEVER be the case. Also, my doctor doesn't talk to me, she just mumbles "mhm" all the time.
