I've been sitting on 100% Disability for 2 years and with no sign of being rated P&T yet. Everyone at VA centers and my VSO said you will have to just sit and wait till the VA decides they want to do something. Another Vet suggested I contact a DAV since no one else wants to give any information. I filled out an email request for help filling in whoever who ever would read it about my situation.
--The first DAV contact left a message on my phone sounded VERY friendly, he understood my situation, and he knew what needed to be done.
--The DAV that actually answered the phone said he knew nothing about my call and no messages were given about me. After I informed him of my situation he said I could either sit and wait or put in for some type of request in eBenefits saying that my condition has not improved in years. He finished with, "You need to just decide what you want to do." Not what I was expecting....also, I still can't find the request on eBenefits that he left me to find. Not what you want when you are looking for help.

It was weird, the first time I talked to someone, he knew what he was talking about and gave me the run down on what they can help me actually do. I should've kept his number, but like many Vets, I didn't know if I even needed representation.

This time I came back with questions on what exactly I can be assisted with. I'm not sure if maybe this person is having a rough day, or is just stupid or something, but I absolutely would recommend not using this service. My question "Do I need representation?" was very obviously ignored, and in order to have "productive dialogue" they want to be my POA.

I know I'm not the only Vet that has problems finding competent people with adequate service. It was demonstrated to me that this institution may not be able to fulfill that need. My inquiry was met with misunderstanding, which is fine I understand that it happens. But when it happens back to back and the people you're working with exude behavior of apathy, it may be time to search for something else. Also, this company is 50/50 when researched. You can check Quora, Reddit and other online reviews to find out for yourself.

I recommend, going to Ebenefits and using their search engine for a VSO. There's over 10 pages of VSO's, some through the VA, some through other organizations. You can find one closer to you, or a service you trust can fulfill your needs after some research. It's significantly easier, and although the VA isn't necessarily always trustworthy or useful too, I recommend using this search engine because you have more options. More options allows you to find services that may better fit your needs. Don't just go with the first organization that offers to be your POA.

Or go with them, it's your choice. I'm just some disgruntled Vet sharing his experience, but this was my experience. Very quickly turned off.
