Bishop Callahan did the RIGHT thing and I have a small degree of respect for him now. Altman should not be condemning entire groups of people, but he appears to be a very angry and bitter person. In fact, what he did could potentially jeopardize the church's tax exemptions. (But such regulations are selodm enforced, and that's how people from this ilk usually get away with this ridiculous nonsense). I used the three star rating for this diocese, because while Bishop Callahan did the proper thing by removing Altman, I'm nonetheless not fooled. Callahan is a conservative and he only intervened because Altman's speeches were SO extreme and incendiary.

It is sad for the Church to see that Leadership in our Dioceses are there no more. For Bishop Callahan to try to silent Father Altman of speaking the Truth to the church is depressing. There are people that will like to hear the Truth, so our lives can change for better. Read Ezequiel 34 -2-10 . God Loves his sheep and gave us a Shepherd our Lord Jesus Christ to Guides. God Bless and protect Father Altman.

Thank you for terminating Fr. Altman. His statements was an attack on Public School Teachers and American Society! Public School Teachers deserve better and the Bishop did the right thing. Hope all is well!!

Well, OK. I have been to the La Crosse diocese before. In fact literally. The secretary was very nice and helpful but this isn't about her. This is about Fr. James Altman. I was at the diocese there last year to submit a letter of support for him. But I guess it wasn't enough. Came across this review page just now so I'll throw my one star in. The bishop has thrown his beloved priest under the bus to appease the Communists. That is what this is about.

Amazing, how the office will not accept any calls. Way to be available to the flock. We have a tremendous amount to say about Fr Altman, and you know it, that is why you cut us off, just like the parishes across this country cut us off. No courage to even listen.

Very disappointing at the lack of "Catholic" Values being taught by the leadership of this diocese. Good shepherds, that are saving souls, are being sidelined, silenced or canceled here. Bad shepherds, that are ruining souls, are being sheltered or groomed to become bishop. i.e. Monsignor Burrill. Thank you god for outing this bad shepherd before he could be elevated to Bishop. What did Bishop Callahan know and how long was he covering this up? I used to pray for the conversion of these bad Bishops and Priests. I no longer do that, I now pray for the intervention of Saint Michael to put these evil men where they belong.

Well, if other people who don’t live in the diocese can leave reviews, then I can, even though I don’t live in the diocese. What all the father altman defenders overlook is that the church can’t promote an overt political viewpoint and keep tax free status. Once Altman said Catholics can’t be Democrats, the irs can be all over the diocese of la crosse. Who’s ready for their tithes to pay the church’s tax bill? In my home diocese, the bishop managed to say exactly who we were supposed to vote for - with out being as over the top obvious as Altman. 🙄

It is very unfortunate that Bishop Callahan wants to silence Ft. Altman for speaking the truth!!! This diocese deserves better. Ft. Altman should be regarded as a hero for speaking the truth and proclaiming it loudly.
