I absolutely love the desert foothills ymca. It has a wide array of classes not to mention personal trainers. I have Jenn Malone as my personal trainer and she's the best she instinctively knows how far to push me and in what direction. I would not go anywhere else!. I get all this at a very reasonable rate.

I absolutely love this facility! It's always clean. The workers are always pleasant and helpful. Even when the parking lot looks full, it's never over crowded. This facility has SO MUCH to offer! I highly recommend this place!

I’ve been very happy with our Y. The staff is friendly and helpful and there’s a wide range of exercise options. Obviously it can be quite busy during snowbird season.

If I had to criticize one thing, I wish the pool was a little deeper. I’m a tall guy and I tried using it for water aerobics. The deepest part of the pool is 4 1/2’ and wasn’t deep enough for me. But that’s just me, I guess.

Don’t do the 12-month commitment! They want control over the members. They lead with this idea of a Christian organization but their policies don’t reflect it. They are always looking to write you up for some kind of inappropriate behavior (which includes conversations you have with the employees) and these notes stay on your account forever. If another member complains about you then without any follow up they just take that person’s word for it and they never revise the report. They also don’t tell you about these write-ups—one day when I signed in I looked at my account and it lit up red instead of green. That’s when I saw the notes. It made me feel like a criminal! Such a joke.

The front desk is filled with fake people and the culture leans more authoritarian than Christian. They seem like they care about members’ feedback but now I know it’s just lip service. And they hold the paying members to a higher standard than the employees that are getting paid to provide service to the members.

I have been coming here about 2 years and everyone from the reception desk to the instructors make you feel like family. The instructors are very good about making sure your workouts are safe and they make it fun also. Highly recommend this facility.

I just joined this facility and am very impressed. The front desk staff are the most friendly and knowledgeable people I have met in a long time and I have been in many public and private fitness facilities in the USA, Canada, Mexico, and in Europe. The weight room is clean and well stocked. The pool is warm and efficiently run. The change rooms are well kept and provide everything you could need. I am very impressed with the lockers which provide adequate space especially if you are doing more than one activity and need a variety of clothes and shoes. There are a large variety of programs to choose from as well.

On the evening of April 4th, 2024, I had an encounter with one of your staff members that prompts me to address an issue of concern. While engaged in an activity that necessitated the temporary removal of my footwear (socks were still on), A MALE EMPLOYEE, DISTINGUISHABLE BY HIS ORGANGE SHIRT AND CAP, approached me to remind me of the facility's footwear policy. I understand and respect the necessity of such rules for health and safety reasons. However, my contention arises from the observation that this policy appears to be inconsistently applied. On numerous occasions, I have witnessed individuals wearing sandals, flip-flops, open-toe shoes, and Crocs within the premises without intervention from the staff. When I brought this inconsistency to the employee's attention, his response was that it is not possible to monitor everyone, a statement that seems incongruent with the protocol that staff are expected to observe each person entering the facility and their adherence to dress code policies.

This incident has led me to reflect on the broader issue of inconsistent enforcement of rules at this YMCA. While I am fully committed to adhering to the established guidelines, it is imperative for the integrity of any institution that its policies be applied uniformly to all members. Unfortunately, the demeanor of the staff member in question—marked by unfriendliness, smugness, and sarcasm—further compounded the situation, in stark contrast to the congenial and professional attitude displayed by the female staff on duty that evening.

My intention is not to belittle the efforts of your staff but to highlight an area where improvement could enhance the experience for all members. The selective enforcement of rules not only undermines the spirit of fairness but also detracts from the inclusive, welcoming environment that the YMCA strives to foster. It is disheartening to have an otherwise positive view of this establishment marred by an experience that felt both demeaning and unnecessarily confrontational.

I earnestly hope that this feedback will be taken as an opportunity for reflection and action, ensuring that all staff are adequately trained in the consistent application of the facility's rules and in maintaining a respectful and professional demeanor towards all members. It is through such measures that the YMCA can continue to be a space where everyone feels valued and respected.
