I was just able to tour the facility and was very impressed with the changes made for the betterment of the animals and the perspective adopters. The director David Mitchell and the office staff (Jackie and Natasha) were very friendly and informative. What a huge difference since the last time I went. I could see that the animals were being well cared for and that their emotional well-being is also being addressed. Everything was clean and resembled not a shelter but more like a veterinary office. So glad all that taxidermy was taken out. The place now has a good vibe.

I volunteer here and have been so impressed with how clean the shelter is and how wonderfully they care for all the animals. David, the director, and his team do amazing work and really care about animals and are so welcoming to all volunteers. I’m always excited to see a dog or cat get a new home.
If you are looking for a pet, please go visit the shelter!

Learning new things everyday day. Beyond thankful he is my bog(Baby)now. He will never see inside an animal shelter again..

Our animal shelter is the cleanest animal shelter iv ever been to. They have several opportunities to volunteer and interact with the animals. The staff is very helpful. The new director is really awesome and embracing change and really making a difference for our city’s shelter. I recommend taking your family and seeing how you can help out by volunteering here!

Posting this review as a gentle warning to people in the community who may try to help strays and make the same "mistake" that we did.

My roommate and I found a dog today that has been wandering our neighborhood on and off for months. We took him to the welfare unit to try and get assistance in helping find his owner or finding him a new home and we were told, verbatim, to "take him back to where you found him and let him go" because he "probably has an owner within 400 ft." We were told that, by simply leashing him, we were accepting legal responsibility for his welfare. We were told that if he harmed someone, that we THEN call the police, not animal control, and that they would not respond to collect him if he got out again because he "probably" had a home. We were not given an answer for what they would do for the dog if the dog himself was attacked or otherwise hurt.

I am an animal lover and an ultra supporter of animal welfare units and what they do is so, so important. I KNOW that they are typically understaffed with not enough room for the amount of strays there are. But we did confirm that they were not full at this time. Because they are "trying to become a no-kill shelter" they will no longer take in loose animals that they think could even have the slightest chance of having a home, regardless of if that animal is reactive, visibly neglected/abused, starving, or possibly abandoned. I know that these things happening to animals are not the fault of the shelter, but I was startled to find that the shelter apparently no longer feels that it's their responsibility to help those kinds of animals.

I also know that these policies are not something that the welfare unit workers get to decide on, but the way we were spoken to by Jackie was incredibly demeaning. She treated us like we were stupid for trying to get this dog help in the way we thought was best. She criticized us for leashing the dog at all and told us that taking up any care for a stray animal is something we should never do because then they would consider us responsible for them. When I asked her what we were supposed to do if he was dangerous, she came outside and very condescendingly commented on how "vicious" he was, because we all know that well-tempered dogs have NEVER not EVER been dangerous in ANY situation. We were lucky that she bothered to check his tag and managed to find an address for the dog, because the number on the tag was out of service and had no address on it. It was incredibly disrespectful and was heartbreaking to hear how she talked about animals in need like they were of no mind to the welfare unit.

I adopted my two oldest cats from the welfare unit in 2017 and 2018 and I have always been a massive supporter of their presence in community. I have donated several times there over the years when I felt I could do so. But today was incredibly disheartening and disappointing for us. The shelter was radically changed from the helpful place it used to be. I feel that the situation could have been handled better and I'm just grateful that we managed to get this poor dog home where he belonged (and inevitably will escape from again).

Absolutely atrocious. These people do not care at all about you or your pets. They will harass easy targets and give you ridiculous fines. Extremely rude and disgraceful.

Sadly, we surrendered our pet after she was collected by the animal welfare officer. She's an outdoor adventurer and got picked up by the officer. Boarding and fines are not great for the outdoor cat lifestyle. Repeat offender. I hope a loving family who transitions her to indoors adopts her. She was gone more than home. Bye, beautiful girl. She's spayed, litter trained, and friendly. All who wander aren't lost.

The ladies there were very nice and helpful, answered all my questions . The facility was very clean as we're the kennels. I told the young lady helping me that one kennel with a puppy had a mess, she never wavered went right away and Cleaned it up.
I was very impressed with how it was kept so clean.
