While we cannot give this place zero stars because some instructors are good, there is one teacher, Nicki, who is extremely mean. During my son's first gymnastics class, he was kicked out. He came to me with a red eyes full of tears. And what he did was he was running around like a four-year-old exited to attendant to a new class. Nicki was rude when I talked to her, and she even told us not to bring our son back for the rest of the day. It's clear that Nikki can't handle young kids with her rude attitude who are new to her class and need time to adjust. It's disappointing that they can't welcome him and help him learn in a new environment without making him cry and feel bad about himself.

Nine years ago I moved to the East Bay with my family & began the process of trying to find activities to put my kids in. In searching around I started to get discouraged because I was priced out of pretty much every activity I could find. Until my neighbor recommended CYC & I am forever grateful to her for that. Once I looked further into the sports offered in addition to the affordable price, I knew that we would be members for a long time.
Our CYC journey began with my son, he didn’t know what he was interested in so we started trying out a couple of different sports. First, trying taekwondo & eventually he switched over to wrestling. Although he isn’t a member anymore due to his lack of interest in sports, I was thrilled that there was a place for him to try out a few different things & it didn’t cost me a lot & there was no long term commitment for him.
As soon as my youngest turned three years old we started enrolling her in activities at CYC as well. She has taken classes in dance (tap/ballet), soccer, gymnastics, wrestling & a few years ago she found her passion in cheer. Now she is in her fourth year on one of CYC’s competitive cheer teams. In addition to practice, she takes a tumbling class, flyers class, a strength & conditioning class & gets private lessons from one of her fantastic coaches twice a month. We are at CYC four days a week, you would think that would be enough, but it's not! She eagerly awaits the two Fridays a month she can go to an open gym that is hosted by the cheer program. She has also attended several summer camps for cheer. She absolutely loves being at the gym & spending time with her CYC family, whether it is hanging out before, after or during her activities or while we are on the road at their competitions. It is truly that, a family.
Not only does CYC have a great selection of classes to choose from but they also care about their members as a whole. The staff & coaches are so kind and helpful. Every interaction I’ve had with any member of the staff has been positive & I am so impressed by how they try to learn of all the members' names, so they can address them personally. It really makes you feel like your child is a part of their family.
In addition to everything I’ve said above, I love that kids can come here and get help with their schoolwork. Although my children have never utilized the AE programs I have always been thrilled that it was there as an option.
CYC plays such a pivotal role in our community. In a time when things were uncertain and crazy, CYC remained a constant in my family’s lives. The staff at CYC did an amazing job pivoting when everything closed down due to the Covid pandemic & found a way to continue to foster the love of sports in the lives of the kids they serve. Without the awesome programs offered here I can honestly say my kids wouldn’t have had the opportunity to try out different sports to see what would light a spark in them.
I love how the staff here continues to try & introduce new activities for its members, from adding new sports to offering enrichment classes & fun events.
CYC is worth checking out, as it offers so much to our youth & at such a reasonable price that you cannot find anywhere else. There truly is no other place like CYC.

Overall a good value. Most of the programs are just for fun. If you really want your child to excel at a sport I suggest exposing them here and then moving on. If you want them to play many sports, have fun and play around then it's the place to be. I have had good experiences with the wrestling, karate, gymnastics and soccer. I am very impressed with the wrestling and karate coaches.

My kids have found some great coaches and staff that they love to hang with. The place is cheap and they hire a lot of young adults, which in general, need customer skills training. It's not anything different than at the mall or wherever else young adults work....!

They could improve with a little more cleanliness and more attention to keeping the riff-raff down but I understand the difficulties with so many kids.

The summer camps are exceptional for money.

If you love your child or children then please do not bring them here. This place likes to call Child Protective Services on familys over the littlest things. They had called Child Protective Services on my family by 2 different gymnastic teachers. The ones that teaches the kids under 5 years old and yes I do know it was them. I have a friend that works there. This place has done nothing but create unnecessary chaos and Trauma for my family. My family will soon remove both of my nieces from this place.

Just talked to a lady over the phone to find a right sports activity for my son and she was very rude, un-supportive, toxic and not willing to share any useful info at all. It felt like she tried to hang up on me, end the conversation as as soon as she could, before allowing me to ask any other questions. So, from just a phone call and the way she spoke to me, you can easily realize that it is an UN-WELCOMING, toxic, and hostile place. DO NOT TRY TAKE your children to there.

This organization is phenomenal! Although we haven't had the opportunity to utilize the sports-side of the facility, the tutoring center is outstanding. Specifically, "Sam" is a tremendous tutor. He is patient and brings out the best from his students. He is a very impressive subject matter expert in both math and science. Kudos to all the tutors at CYC for their expertise and enthusiasm in academically helping these kids. It's priced reasonably as well.

It was good at first then they started canceling class with no notice. I don't understand how hard it can be to email call maybe text parents when the classes are cancelled for the day. Employees need to be reevaluated and fired. They aren't happy with their job and hardly interact with kids they should be coaching. They talk too much within them self's rather than working with children.

We have been going to CYC for 2 years and I've had several bad experiences with the employees here. They are in general young, rude, probably underpaid and really do not care about the business or the customers. After several bad experiences with them I called to cancel my membership and was hung up on by the employee who didn't want to deal with it. He refused to answer the phone after that and I had to drive down there just to cancel. I've just had it with this place. You get what you pay for here. You pay crap and you get crap. Honestly you can pay just a little more and get better quality and service from a thousand other places. Some of the teachers are pretty nice but not many. Really my biggest complaint is the office staff and their attitudes. I just don't want to give my money to support that kind of terrible customer service or their paycheck anymore. I also forgot to mention about how almost impossible it is to get in to this place. People wait outside starting at 10pm and camp overnight just to be the first one to get the one and only spot available in a dance class in months! I HIGHLY recommend going somewhere else. It's just not worth the aggravation and being treated so poorly by some young kid with a bad attitude.
