Community Living Centers is home to many of my neighbors, and gives these wonderful people who are full of potential the pieces of support they need to play, work, volunteer, and participate in their community. For over 50 years this organization has been a trailblazer in not only the care and support of folks with developmental disabilities, but also in changing the conversation around how they are perceived, treated, and valued by their community. For a person with a cognitive impairment, Down Syndrome, Autism, a closed head injury or other challenge, life can be full of closed doors. CLC gives these folks respect, dignity, opportunity, love and support to build a fulfilling life and be a part of their community. That's what everyone wants, isn't it? Family, friends, opportunity to work and participate in the world around them, and some encouragement and love to work through life's challenges. The folks who live at CLC are extraordinary, but they are like everyone else, just trying to live life to the fullest - and CLC's dedicated, hard working, loving, professional, experienced staff makes this possible every day. I will support and promote CLC my entire life, because I have seen the impact they make and believe in their potential to continue growing and making a difference.
