I recently went to CEAPI in Brooklyn Center. I wasn’t sure what to expect since this was my first experience with a food shelf. When I scheduled the appointment I let them know I have celiac so only eat gluten free items. I know that makes it challenging for them to know what I can eat.

When I arrived the lady showed me a couple speciality gluten free items she had for me - yea! Very thoughtful. I pulled out the items with gluten to leave for someone else. I was amazed at all the produce! Apples, blueberries, plouts, limes, pineapple, bananas, carrots, peppers, salads, potatoes, onions, and my absolute favorite cherry tomatoes on the vine. Yum! I hadn’t expected so much. Perhaps they gave me a little more since I couldn’t do the breads etc. I even had to leave some of the produce behind because I knew I’d never be able to eat it all.

I’m so appreciative! Like a lot of people, my pride is having a hard time needing this help, but they made it easy and are kind. Thank you!
