Their "mining" section was 3 unlabeled rocks. And no gold? Appreciate the folks for running it, but of the 10 or so small town museums I've been to, this was somehow the least interesting.

I'd love to actually go! I often charge my electric car in their parking lot but so far always when they are closed. Looking in the windows it looks interesting though.

This is a great place to catch the California Zephyr. The folks at the gift shop and museum are always friendly and helpful. The awning is large, so it's easy to catch the shade or stay out of the rain if you want to sit on the benches outside.
Both eastbound and westbound California Zephyrs pass through here around midday.

It wasn't that I disliked the place because on the outside it looked nice. But this was the Amtrak's 20 minute resting place & the doors were locked so my kids & i were unable to enjoy the museum. Maybe another time we are traveling we will catch it open.

Very Interesting:
THE PEOPLE THAT WORK @ THE COLFAX, Ca TRAIN MUSEUM ARE Very Interesting and Funny @ Times, My FAMILY and I will return for a visit in the Spring when the Wild FLOWERS RETURN, WE LOVE TWO GO HIKING & GO GOLD PANNING,on the American & Bear River & Also to the Windy Point Area too see the Wild Flowers we ALSO enjoy Photography OUR MOUNTAIN FLOWERS, THANK YOU TO THE VOLUNTEER'S THAT DONATED THERE TIME AND FOR ALL THERE INTERESTING STORY'S WE WILL RETURN NEXT SPRING

Our music group sang from 1-4 PM today inside a small room , and had air-conditioning the whole time.! It was really hot outside.
