This is my second time through the mission and it's the same this time as it was the first time. The mission is and always will be a blessing to those who are receptive of the resources available. Staff genuinely cares about each individual persons well being. Personal experience has shown me that the people who have a problem are those who cannot follow rules or directions. There are rules, yes, but they are implemented to make things run smoothly for everyone. The mission has been here for me while trying to get my kids back into my custody. My case manager went to court with me and spoke on my behalf. I realize that my time is limited here, but this place will always have a special place in my heart.

My experience with this mission started at Thanksgiving 2023, when I received a blanket mail out letter telling how I could help with Thanksgiving meals for the homeless for as little as a couple of dollars. That amount would pay for a Thanksgiving meal for one person. I knew nothing about the CVRM at the time, but I sent a fifty dollar check because I wanted to help those who would otherwise not have a meal on Thanksgiving. A while later, I received another letter addressed to me personally asking for another meal donation and I responded. Soon, I was getting solicitation mailouts regularly from CVRM, as often as every month, and some were quite heavy with paper. This does not work for me, as I see it as some sort of "hard sell" tactic. I called to ask to be taken off the mailing list and remarked at the time, that this practice was costing the mission a lot in postage, paper, and time. Then, the past three months, I have received countless donation requests from charities all over the globe, which I have never heard of. I am currently getting two or three a day.
I called CVRM to complain and ask why they had given my name and address to all these unknown (to me, anyway) charities. The man I spoke with told me that a third party handles all that. (marketing)! He couldn't do anything about it.
How can they afford that? And, does it even really help? And, then I've read some of the negative reviews that make me wonder where the money really goes. I also know it is easy to refute a negative review, by writing a long, flowery one that answers the negative review, point by point. I hope the board that oversees CVRM will look into this.

I love this academy. God truly is present there. I went there sucked up, addicted to everything. And in a year I was clean and sober, had financial savings, a good job, awesome friends and most of all Christ.

All these people are just a bunch of hypocrites. They say that they’re there for you but all they do is belittle and break you down. Those who aren’t addicts here are treated as if they are. They don’t care about your mental health and their solution is to throw us into work. They don’t help you find a job, they don’t help you get clean, if the slightest thing happens there is a threat of getting exited. It’s never helpful here and unfortunately some of us don’t have anything to fall back on so we are forced to stay.

I'm not sure if the actual CVRM program is the same as THE ANNEX? My review is on the Coachella valley rescue mission annex. I am nobody but I am a person that has a heart and I understand what this is about. It basically falls into homeless people, mental illness , addiction, abuse, and the list goes on. I am a person that would never ever judge anybody because I don't have that right to. I have experienced all of the above and I graduated the CVRM NEW LIFE PROGRAM OVER 10 YEARS AGO . I AM VERY GRATEFUL TO SPEAK ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE AND THE LOVE I RECEIVED THERE. THANK YOU CVRM FOR HELPING ME. I recently asked my case manager to help me get my daughter back into at least the ANNEX. She went out of her way and decided that she would give us a ride to drop off my daughter at the Annex. My daughter has suffered from PTSD and was struggling. Long story short... Aleena. the intake manager. Flat out turned my daughter away. She also told my case manager. No she couldn't stay there. My hope today is that nobody gets turned away period. Regardless of how many times a person tries to recover, I strongly feel they should never get turned away period. If you know your job and your dedicated to recovery you'll understand the dynamics. It may take fifty times and still I don't believe anyone should get turned away. She turned my daughter away and said she couldn't stay there. She tried but my daughter would just leave. Well I don't live by wouldves couldes. My daughter unfortunately tragically passed two weeks later. If I was a case manager or a person that worked in recovery I would give everyone ten chances or how many it would take. I'm not God and everyone deserves a second third fourth chance. If you don't know this you should know it now. it's about helping people not judging. CVRM has amazing programs and I'm GRATEFUL for the shelter in general

To be honest, I’m not that familiar with this organization. However, in the last week I’ve witnessed the CVRM trucks in my area working with the unhoused. Today, I watched the staff member pull up to assist an unhoused woman who I see all the time in various areas of DHS. When he got out of his truck to greet her, he gave her a hug before beginning to assist her with her needs. This CVRM staff member in the 92240 seems to be a real caring person ❤️

Ok here we go.Ive been here bout 2.5 weeks and can't wait too get out.I realize it's not supposed too be the Hilton but they should hang a sign over door saying leave your dignity there.Yelling by staff,favoritism.Ive never been in prison but this is probably 5 steps above it.Filled with mainly excons,bangers so a regular white guy like me it's hard.The "beds" are foot off ground I got bad knees they don't care.They chase everyone out of bathroom in morning so transgender person can take shower.Ill give the mission props for getting people off streets.Coachella seems like they got not too many homeless.i could be wrong bout that.For me personally this place has been really hard on me

This place has a lot of potential but the staff members can be very mean and some are very kind and a lot of them are two face. The CVRM is supposed to be a place of refuge and a place for a new beginning. But for some people they make it very hard. They make stuff up on them. They kick people out for who they think they could be. How they look. How they act. Sad. And the food the serve is expired.
