I wanted to visit the large
Native American collection of Northern California Tribes
and was not disappointed.

You will find a small museum
in an old bank building with
a number of exhibits and
collections including Native
American, guns, gems and minerals, local history, and
much more.

The Hallstone and Hover collections in the Native
American exhibit includes baskets from the local
Yurok and Karuk tribes.

The Becker collection
includes necklaces from
the local tribes made
from sea shells and pine
nuts.

The gun collection includes
historic firearms and weapons
including muskets, swords,
and small guns.

I also found a nice quilt
display, a mineral collection,
a Victorian Room display,
and a number of local history
exhibits including the
expulsion of the Chinese.

Located on E street in
downtown Eureka with
limited parking on the streets.

A nice place to stop and
learn about the local history
of Humboldt County and the local tribes with a Native
American plant collection in front of the museum.

Apparently, this museum is closed for the entire month of January to update their installations. Their Google Maps hours have not been updated, nor was the sign on the door as of January 4, 2025.

Fortunately, when we called the Museum, someone answered and informed us of the closure, saying that there was an announcement on their website (not very helpful for visiting tourists who might not be Internet savvy, or don’t realize they need to visit the website ….).

Huge disappointment!

Good experience and multiple items to view. Small and good for a quick visit to learn a bit more about this area, no charge, only a suggested donation asked.

Small but densely packed museum in Eureka. The first section is natural history and has a large collection of birds and rocks. There is a Vietnam war memorial that focuses on some of the locals. A Victorian section showcases the history of the area.
The middle section is reserved for rotating exhibits. On our visit they were showcasing quilts.
Lastly, they have the largest collection of Native American baskets in the country! Pretty neat for such a small museum. Definitely a great visit.
Suggested donation of $5 for kids and $10 for adults.

The historical bank building has great marble throughout, and it houses a wonderful gift shop and changing historical collections. The Native American exhibition is terrific.

Always interesting to visit the Clark Museum. They go out of their way to put together historically accurate displays & vignettes with great details, stories & information.

Many of the people I've encountered at the museum are well informed & a wealth of information about local history, events of yesteryear, important people & families that helped create & contributed to the rich history of this area.

The Clark Museum has a wonderful collection of local Native American baskets, tools & artifacts on display. They also create outstanding temporary displays of industries, business celebrations, politics, transportation, education, social events, entertainment & daily life from years ago in the Heart of the Redwoods & on the North Coast.

I always enjoy touring the museum & learn something new every time I visit.

It was a small museum, barely two rooms. But it fully educational and they even sold antiques in the front room.
