You go into this facility with the hopes of finding a therapist for behavioral help for your small child and get a slap in the face. My son is newly 5 and said an obvious exaggeration during therapist one-on-one time (again, he just turned five.) “Therapist” was told exactly about how this certain talk came about (YouTube and Roblox) and that was the whole reason I took him there, so we could try and get to the root of our issue. No follow up questions were asked me to confirm or anything. And then a phone call was made to CPS that SAME day! Was also told by someone in the same field that A LOT of calls are made from here to DCBS off FIRST assessments of children — without any other knowledge or one on one time! Won’t be taking my son here again — I want a therapist who can help him/us, not a social worker quick to ruin lives over nothing. Shows how much they actually care about a child’s wellbeing. Out of all of the families and mothers in NKY with real issues, they try to target those who have nothing to worry about and have the upmost love and care for their child. Just another attempt to get kids medicated and or in the system. It also makes families scared to reach out for help or trust therapists because these days people report over ANYTHING! Do not take your child here with the hopes of trusting people to help you through your child’s challenges or you will end up with an open CPS case.

P.S. if anyone had something to hide or worry about, the last place they would take their child to be evaluated for HELP is a children’s home filled with mandated reporters. Hence why my case will be closed.

Make sure you're speaking to a therapist and not a social worker. There may be great people here but the lady we had a visit with was not.

CHNK is a WONDERFUL place. Amazing staff! My daughter has learned so much from this place! It’s not easy sending your child somewhere period- we live almost 3 hours away! And I’m so glad that her therapist recommended this place. Since my child’s been home, she’s so happy and has learned so much. Everything they do with these children is phenomenal. I can’t even explain how much the staff has made such a positive impact on my child as well. So, thank you everyone at the Burlington cottage for being so wonderful to my girl.

Grateful for a referral by Brett, it has turned into a great thing for my children. My son has already been able to grow a lot emotionally working with Bethany, Rachel has just been phenomenal. My daughter has already expressed being comfortable with Christine, no easy feat for anyone let alone a teenage girl, we are grateful we were able to switch providers. The staff has been awesome as well, they are very kind and helpful. We feel the devotion and care of the folks at CHNKY Behavioral Health with every interaction! Thank you!

My experience with the staff was exceptional! They are the most positive understanding friendly people that I have been exposed to in a very long time.

Bret who was my therapist for 6 weeks made my class fun educational and I truly didn’t want to leave. I felt that everyone I knew could benefit from the skills that he taught my group. I will remember my class the rest of my life and forever be grateful!

Also I have to mention Dickey who sat in on our group twice a week, I consider these guys great human beings with beautiful hearts

I’m so grateful I took Bret’s recommendation to come to CHNK. I just moved to Cincy and was looking for someone to manage my meds. The office and staff are great. Rachel is amazing and I appreciate that my visits aren’t just 10 mins asking me about my meds like other psychiatrist. Her assistant Shelia is also warm and friendly. I feel safe and respected there.

I want to thank the person who introduced this program to me if it wasn’t to them I wouldn’t be the person I am now. First I was hesitant to do the group but I got up and did it consistently it was overwhelming , but it was beneficial I learned a lot of skills and it was very helpful in very a tremendous way. Unfortunately not the best place for children to find treatment. It is a great place for adults seeking outpatient treatment. I was a worker at the organization for a few years and it was just not proactive with changes, they hire very shady people that should not be around children. They're quick to promote people who have been there for less than months at a time. While there the amount of college students working there was high, and they all seemed to see the same thing. Just lazy upper management that has gotten complacent with how things are and are find with the bare minimum. Kids basically begged for food every night because the food they were getting served was barely a step above dog food, and I would eat it with the kids just to try to show them it wasn't that bad... Overall a very eye opening experience and I do think having an emergency placement for children is great and useful, the "treatment" aspect is not there. There we're multiple returning children, usually coming back worse than they left. As well the behaviors from the other children are so intense that the odds of other kids picking up on those behaviors and also learning them is very high. I'm getting my degree in social work and this would be the very last option I would use for a child.
