Had a project at East Los Angeles College about learning culture. I decided to learn about Chinese culture, so I picked Lion Dancing. I found this new place called Chinatown Community Cultural Center by East Wind Foundation.

I was surprised by how culturally rich the place is! It reminded me of watching old Chinese movies of Kung Fu Schools!

What I liked most was that the staff politely gave me a brief introduction and explained the Chinese struggles for the early Chinese settlers in Los Angeles. The photos and displays are authentic and amazing!

I will definitely share this place to my friends and family.

My kids got me to walk into this cultural center. They saw the lion heads they have inside are so colorful and attractive. My kids were so happy feeling on it and learning the significance of lion dancing in the Chinese culture.

The young boy named Cheetah was so kind and knowledgeable. He gave my kids some stickers that he drew and printed for free too.

Got to go back when I’m near Chinatown.

I’m a high school student from LAUSD. I visited this Sunday and was so impressed with this culturally rich establishment. It has historical timelines of LA Chinatown too.

It has such nice lion heads, weapons, and t-shirts. The t-shirts for only $25 donation to the foundation. I had to get four t-shirts to give to my family members for Christmas 🎄.

The young Intern Kevin was so polite and offered me free merchandise too. He explained to me about East Wind Foundation too.

This place is a must visit if you want to see Chinese culture.

Finally a place in a Chinatown that highlights the Chinese art of lion dance and martial arts geared towards the youths in its community. East Wind’s non profit organization has been a part of the Chinatown Community for over 50 years spreading good luck and fortune throughout.
I attended their grand opening and what a wonderful show! They showcased martial arts and lion dancing followed by the ribbon cutting ceremony. Then they welcomed guests into their new space. The bright red and gold dragon on the outside makes the space super inviting. They have a history timeline of the group along with props for a picture opportunity! They do take donations as the money is used to go towards the youths who attend East Wind. It’s used for scholarships, enrichment trips, and educational programs. So make a donation, take some pictures, hit the drums and the gong and leave feeling blessed because I sure did!

Walked into this cultural venue today and was surprised by the friendly young staff . They told me they were here to share the Chinese culture and history of Chinatown to people like me. I was unaware of the Chinese massacres and the systematic discrimination that happened.

They gave me beautiful stickers made by their local young artist.

It was an amazing little cultural center. I learned a lot about the history of my hometown, lion dancing, and the organization itself. The staff were very generous and they even give out free stickers.

Update : It’s been a few months since I’ve been to Chinatown and now they’ve added many new things. They got some new stickers and merch. I also love the tote bag they offer for a low donation.

As I was waiting for my Howlin’ Ray’s order, I came into this cultural center across from it for viewing and I have to say. The place looks like a kung-fu school from ancient China. While in there, I learned quite some things from the progression of their non-profit organization and the history of Chinese-American when they first moved to the United States.

The people were very generous and polite when giving me a tour and explaining about their cultural center. It is a great place to stop by when waiting for Howlin’ order because you won’t be bored out of your mind while waiting for your food.

After giving me the tour guide and following their instagram, I received two very beautiful stickers from them, you can also ask for pins too if you do not want stickers.

Chinatown finally has a place to preserve and promote Chinese-American culture along with lion dancing and kung-fu. It is a wonderful and informative space I believe anyone and everyone can come to enjoy while learning something. Make yourself feel at home when coming in.

I walked by here yesterday and was surely impressed with the Cultural Center. This looks like an old Chinese kung-fu school in the movies. The pictures they displayed were impressive too. I learned a lot from walking through. I never knew that the early Chinese American settlers suffered so much discrimination and a massacre in Los Angeles.

The kid that answered my questions was very helpful and pleasant. I will definitely bring my family by and share this location with others.

I was also given some beautiful stickers for going in and they are beautiful.
