First off, no one typically wants to live here, but are forced to because of income restrictions and lack of resources. While they claim to support the veterans, the very people that care for them are stealing from them. My disabled friend has recently lost a brand new iPad Pro, an Amazon Alexa, a wireless speaker and charging hub TO THEFT, not to mention other items that have been taken over the years. Security & accountability are essentially non-existent so residents beware…if no one is routinely physically checking on you, your stuff will disappear & no one there cares, in fact, they perpetrate it!

The security here is well enforced and mantained for the safety of their residents. Please do not be deterred because a family was unable to follow protocols made specifically for protecting their loved ones. The staff here are remarkable and go above and beyond for their charges. You will not find a better or more caring facility out there!

If you’re planning to have a loved one stay here, think again. We drove 3,000 miles to visit my grandpa, only to be denied entry because we arrived one hour after visiting hours, which weren’t even posted. Security couldn’t reach anyone in administration for assistance, and since my grandpa couldn’t get out on his own, we were stuck. After finally reaching administration, they refused to allow even my mom, who hadn’t seen her father in over ten years, to visit. Our family is hurting, we have all decided to post similar review in hopes this reaches someone to think twice before having their family stay here.

ABSOLUTELY appalling experience during our family visit. There were no visible signs or information regarding visiting hours, and after driving 3,000 miles specifically to see my grandpa, we were heartlessly turned away for being just an hour late. Security was completely unhelpful, unable to reach anyone in administration, and because my grandpa is unable to leave on his own, we were left utterly helpless and unable to see him. Even after we finally managed to contact the administration, they rigidly clung to their ridiculous policy, coldly denying my mom—their own daughter, who hasn't seen her father in over ten years—the chance to reunite with him. This heartless and unyielding behavior is beyond unacceptable.

Went to do community service for the veterans last month by donating key chains.. great staff and got to talk with some of the veterans…due to the privacy of the staff and veterans, will not post any of the photos taken with them

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and frustration regarding the unacceptable experience my family and I endured at your facility. Our visit, which was intended to reconnect with a beloved family member, was marred by a series of egregious failures in both communication and customer service, ultimately culminating in a distressing and disheartening situation.

After traveling over 3,000 miles to visit my grandfather, we were confronted with an egregious lack of clarity regarding visiting hours. Despite our attempts to plan our arrival in accordance with any posted guidelines, we found ourselves unable to access the facility due to an unposted and seemingly arbitrary restriction. We arrived only one hour past an uncommunicated deadline, yet this minor delay was met with an unyielding refusal to permit entry.

The situation was exacerbated by the facility’s security personnel, who were unable to contact administration for assistance or guidance. This left us in an untenable position, as my grandfather, who is unable to leave the premises unassisted, was left without the opportunity to see his family. It is both disheartening and profoundly frustrating to be left stranded under such circumstances, especially when our sole intention was to provide emotional support and connection during a critical time.

When we were finally able to speak with someone in authority, the response we received was nothing short of appalling. Despite the clear emotional and logistical strain this situation had placed on us, including the fact that my mother had not seen her father in over a decade, we were met with a rigid refusal to grant her access. This lack of compassion and flexibility reflects a fundamental disregard for the well-being and emotional needs of both residents and their families.

The deficiencies in your facility’s operational procedures, communication, and overall customer service are glaringly apparent. The absence of clearly posted visiting hours, coupled with the inability of security personnel to provide assistance or escalate issues, highlights a systemic problem that needs urgent addressing. It is unacceptable for a facility that is supposed to offer care and support to its residents to impose such harsh and poorly communicated restrictions on family members who are seeking to provide comfort and support.

This experience has left us questioning the quality of care and the level of empathy within your institution. It is crucial that immediate steps be taken to improve the transparency of visiting policies, enhance communication channels, and ensure that staff members are trained to handle such situations with the compassion and flexibility that every family deserves.

I hope this feedback will be taken seriously and prompt necessary changes to prevent other families from experiencing similar distress and disappointment in the future.

This is the worst place for family visits. There were no hours posted, and after driving 3,000 miles to see my grandpa, we arrived just an hour after visiting hours ended and were denied entry. Security couldn’t reach anyone in administration, even in an emergency. Since my grandpa couldn’t leave on his own, we were stuck. After finally reaching someone in administration, they refused to make an exception, not even for my mom, who hadn’t seen her father in over ten years. I would never leave a love one here.

My brother-in-law has been lucky enough to call CalVet his home for over five years.
He has Parkinson's and is cared for very well. If there have been problems, the staff has responded well.
I'm sorry to hear the family in previous posts was unable to visit as planned. If they had been successful, they might have seen what a great asset this facility is to the Fresno Community!
