I've lived here for now and I have attended the events here for several years. The students that attend are fun and caring, my best friends, seriously. A new set of staff came in two years ago that are really, truly wonderful. The housing is relatively new (built in 2008 I believe) and maintenance is really good with upkeep. There's six townhouses on the property other than the main house. If you want to find a great group of friends, I recommend this place. Also, having read a few of the bad reviews, I would like to say all of the people mentioned in those reviews have left and are no longer on the staff or on the board that helps this place with decision-making. I have great love for this place, and it has been one of the highlights of my time at UC Davis.

The CA House has been home since freshman year, and I'm sure I'll continue attending their community Wednesday Night dinners because of their inviting nature. Very community oriented and the new staff work very hard to provide programs and opportunities that'll be of interest to students of all backgrounds. The town homes are very spacious and fairly new, so definitely give this place a look.

Only Pro:
extremely close to the campus, just a couple of minutes of walking/biking.
CONs:
So many....
i) They force you to do things, like cleaning, cooking, and obviously going to the Church although you might have serious reservation if you are not a Christian. They will convince you hard to sign the contract saying about a lot of flexibility, but once you sign they will take advantage of that. So read carefully before signing the lease please.
ii) Almost all the employees have serious ego issues, especially Lauren and Brett. They eventually don't know what is the proper way to run an organization like this which is extremely frustrating! Among the employees only Katie and Chris seem to be very understanding and reasonable persons.
iii) Since it is a community housing, the authority select houseleaders. Many houseleaders take illegal advantage of that and harass other housemates. Have noticed that Asian background people take advantage of it being very loyal and subservient to the authority. When the issues get serious, the authority just call for a house meeting to mediate rather than taking any actions.
Final Conclusion:
***If you are a graduate student, try to avoid this place AT ANY COST. They won't understand and respect your schedule, and your life will just be ruined!
But for an undergrad who is willing to live in a community housing close to the campus, this may be fine. But be prepared for the other repercussions as written above.
Finally, I do believe that if the authority and employees are a bit more sincere about these issues with a better control of their ego, this can be a nice, viable and strong community in future.

This is my second year living at the MLC and it has been a great living experience for me. The new staff are kind, responsive, and dedicated to making sure you are comfortable in the community. The weekly dinners and the quarterly retreats are enriching and I have met so many great people and gained a lot of new knowledge because of them. I definitely recommend the CA House and the MLC as I have only experienced good things here.

I've been living here a year and it's been great! The new staff are so open and want to make the MLC a welcoming community for everyone. I've made great friends and the Wednesday night dinners are the highlight of my week. If you want to learn about other faith traditions and identities, come check it out!

The people are super nice, Wednesday night dinners are delicious, the speakers are interesting! I especially like living here because even though not everyone shares a religion, most of us share wanting to lead meaningful lives and are hopeful that positive change can be made- and that makes for a wonderful group of people! Staff's super involved in building the community and always around to help!

Living at the Multifaith Living Community has been one of the highlights of my college experience at UC Davis. It is a safe place to live with a welcoming community. The staff is very responsive and efficient! They work hard to put together programs and retreats for the residents. I recommend the CA House to anyone looking for a place to call home throughout college.

The way they operate the units here is unprofessional and unofficial. The safety deposit is expensive, which is twice the monthly rent. So at next year's rate (fall 2017), that safety deposit will be 1600 or more. Do not expect to get back most of it, especially if you vocalize against anything they do that is illegal in California (entering premises without a day's notice for instance) or if you do anything prohibited in the lease agreement, such as keeping a guest for longer than 3 days. They will get on your ass about that, I have never heard of any other apartment that is this nosey. You'd best not get on their bad side because they will over bill you for damages, and I have even heard of a person getting charged for damages that weren't there. The community is not united, a lot of the people I spoke to that currently live here say that they do not like living here, and want to move out. If you do sign your lease, make sure to get a copy of it, and also take a picture of the original lease, I have also heard a story where they kicked a tenant out because they edited out their signature on the lease agreement and then stated that they never signed a lease. Just make sure you know what your getting yourself into.
