While the facility is nice and the residents are friendly, the things that we were told would occur when my father moved in did not. I realize there was a health concern at the time, but we had hoped someone would reach out to welcome him and support him once that ended. He's been the over a month and had never been down around, introduced to anyone, invited to join anything, and still had no name tag on his door or his veteran photos on the wall. I just wish he had been welcomed into the community like we were promised.

My mom stayed here for her last year and it was fantastic. Smelt wonderfully clean, great employees and delicious food. I tried to get her up and moving to the hair salon, putting green and TV room. Its just a warm nice place...very UNLIKE. the residential care homes she was in.
Everyone parks their carts or walkers in a little row just outside dining room door. (Like a parking lot..all in a line) I thought it was fantastic for her..and us four children and the grandkids, too.

I've been here 6 months for a winter respite from Michigan The staff is courteous, respectful. The facility is spacious. Nicely decorated
My complaints :
1) it's not disabled friendly. . I use a Walker and electric wheel chair. Most doors to outside are extremely hard to open. I feel at risk of falling with parking lot doors due to difficulty of use. Wheres the ADA thought They need auto doors to nonsecure areas
2)the gym is almost nothing. A bike, weights, a walking machine and a psuedo nu step. My generation values fitness. I'm 71 years old
3) food is poor, especially since covid. Again, wheres the healthy thought. Fried chicken is bad for anyone. I've spoken 4 times with kitchen chefs about better quality.
Next winter I'll look elsewhere for my respite from winter

My mother, who is 90 and losing her memory just a bit has been treated horribly by the staff who has called her " half baked" and bullied her. I never leave complaints about any businesses, but this became so intolerable that we are having to move her out. It has hurt her immensely as she has her wits about her enough to notice. She is a Godly woman who has given back to others her whole life to just be treated like a bad child. Beware of dealing with the director Christina and Maria, both are very rude and don't show concern for your loved ones or family members.

Terrible, unprofessional workers. Snapping and snarking at each other. Too young inexperienced and overwhelmed to Actually do any work. I saw one snap at a young woman about HIPPA and he misquoted it. When she called him out on it he got angry. Do not leave your elderly here. They will be neglected. I'm astounded they haven't been reported and shut down.

Be very careful before choosing Brookdale Paulin Creek. They will lure you in with a low introductory rate. Know that all services are charged a la carte, and your bill could skyrocket in a very short time. Of course, your aged relative will be comfortable by then, and you will be faced with a dilemma: move them or pay extortion rates?
