These people have heart! ❤Had to surrender 2 kitties we couldn't keep where we live. The ladies that did their intakes treated us with care and kindness. The process was simple and fairly quick. And if our situation changes we even have the chance to get our kitties back!

We adopted Aurora (previously Jules) about a month ago, and she has settled in so perfectly. We play and cuddle every day now! She is such a friendly and loving cat. So appreciative of the staff there who were so informative, attentive, and just generally very supportive to help us find our new friend.

We adopted our sweet girl Jubilee (formally jewell) from this shelter after looking at a few different facilities; we couldn’t be happier with our decision! Both when we adopted her and when she came back for a heartworm check the staff were so happy and excited to see jubilee living her best life with us, they loved her just like we have. They love and care about every single pet in their care like they are their own.

We love the MHS! Five years ago, we took a chance and adopted our first senior rescue, Duke. He came to us at 9 1/2 years of age from a single human home only to join our family of six (four humans and two dogs). From day one, Duke adapted to our chaos like the regal dog he was. The staff was amazing! He was well cared for during his time at the MHS and they were wonderful to work with through the entire process. I would encourage everyone to take a chance on a senior dog; you may just find your snow buddy or sous chef😉 Sadly, we recently had to say goodbye to our beloved Duke, but the five years we had with him was worth it! Please give this wonderful organization a chance to help you find your next best friend.

The staff here give so much time, attention, and love to these animals and truly care about making sure each animal finds a great home. I foster for them occasionally and adopted one of my fosters this past winter. A huge thank you to their staff members for giving their lives to these animals. Phoebe (far right) has a second chance thanks to you.

Somewhat lengthy thread, but my experience with the Muskegon Humane Society warrants it. We had recently lost my fiancé’s 15 year old terrier after a long illness. During that time we had actually put an application in on another puppy, thinking at the time another dog might be back the old gal a bit. Before it could happen unfortunately Niyah worsened and all thoughts of another dog were forgotten, to the point I’m sorry to admit of me even ignoring the MHS when they reached out pending the application. After we lost Niyah, I randomly stopped in to the shelter to introduce myself and apologize for dropping off the earth for a month. During the course of the convo I was told that the “new puppy’s” were in the room behind the office if I needed a bit of therapy. I did and immediately melted. Sent my fiancé a picture which led to her bringing our other dog immediately to MHS after she was done at work. Fiancé spoke with the staff up front and asked if we could put our application through after all. The next day we were called and told that we could meet both dogs at Pet Smart as they were there for an event. Ironically the original dog was very nice but we didn’t connect. Ash on the other hand sprinted over to me for more licks and attempted climbing. The staff and experience was wonderful and you could see their passion and humanity worn on their sleeves. While their mission may be to adopt out animals, they take care of people just as much in my experience.
