Our laws are being abused by those with power...money. God's gift...to the "tenant" in trouble! Evictions suppressor.
This Non-profit fights un-lawful evictions like a "Mother Bear" to protect the innocent.
News questions evictions in L.A. Courts run away numbers...adding to Homelessness? Here's what's really going on.
No Rent Control laws hold!
No County or City Agency I could see doing their job...protecting the tenants rights (which is what we are paying Billions in taxes for...but, IT'S NOT HAPPENING!)
Renters don't have many options to protect their homes from "greedy" Landlords who file what is called, an "Un-lawful Detainer." It must be answered and filed with The Court within 5 days!
How do you even know who to go to to get HELP? And you better have representation in Court because...you will be heard by a Commissioner or Judge that chances are is a Landlord themselves...(anyone smell "conflict-of-inerest" here?)
Lots of "Bottom-feeders" in this world ready to over-charge you and not-even-show-up! You loose...you're out!
No appeal in this law for one of the most important thing in the world to "Americans"...our homes!
BASTA found a way to a Jury trial...to protect our legal rights. That's HUGE!
Most Jurist don't own property...they rent!
This is most assuredly an Organization of quality individuals...from years of experience, hard work that produces knowledge. Rebecca Marcos is an example! Quality human being who knows her "stuff" and really cares!
Manager of Basta, Magda Madrigal...the defender of our homes, is top-notch! Attorney's in the office...the same!
On my top 10 List of Non-Profits!

They charge a very nominal fee-for-services!...and you are as "safe as you can be" under the circumstances! Blessings to you...this is a rough one.

This company need to be investigated very unprofessional, took copies of my personal court documents, told me they can’t help me and they going to shred my court documents. I believe basta didn’t help me because, I’m a black male. I told my female Mexican neighbor about this company they immediately took her case and became her attorney and we had the same issue with the same landlord. They denied me, but accepted her. They lady that work the front desk took my documents and I never heard from them. I called them to ask about the status of my application that’s when they told me basta won’t be able to assist me… and they going to shred my documents.

They helped me keep my apartment that the slumlords were trying to run me out of. When the slumlords bought my building they wanted me out because my rent is very low due to rent control. They tried everything, even claiming that I wasn’t paying my rent and serving me an eviction notice. BASTA took care of them, and I’m still here. The slumlords sold the building when they realized that they weren’t going to get rich quick.

Giving them five stars after 10 years. 10 years ago, I had a situation where the landlord was charging the rent, but the bank showed up, wanting to evict us. We went to court and basta helped us deal with it. Never once profiting. I see a lot of one star in two star reviews here but people have to understand not all cases are good cases and their attorneys are not gonna fight a battle that they know they’re gonna lose specially if a tenant has bad history

Today BASTA won my case against a Landlord that violated my Covid -19 evictions protections that were put in place to help keep me ,a single mom from becoming homeless . I have to say that this Non profit organization with Jeanette ,Flor and Raymond are truly my angels sent to stop the injustices that are being committed against people like me . True Warriors of justice for all of us that need help .They put their magnificent efforts into my case and they prevailed in a win !!!

Basta and Attorney Jacob Woocher are terrific. When my landlord fraudulently attempted to evict me, they went the extra mile to prove me innocent. Professional and reliable, I'd give them 5 stars plus.

Referred by stay housed LA four months ago Basta told me I had to go to Basta universal on Wilshire blvd. When I drove there only receptionist was at the window. All they could do was send a email which I had sent many on my own. After trying to talk to someone at Basta for four months they to me they could not help me. The worst experience ever basically they said we aren’t taking any more clients. Now I’m scrambling to retain a attorney. Would never recommend Basta ever.
