Myself and 3 friends went to the Bangor Humane Society after mutual friend had passed away, his dog Franklin had been brought there after he was found in his home. After we found out he was in fact there the staff told us they had to contact next of kin, which is true and understandable. They would not let us see him or tell us anything they knew about his health. They told us they'd pass along our information to the next of kin, took all of our information, names, phone numbers, emails, and even addresses. All to contact an estranged family member that very night, and not tell us despite one of us calling to check. Until eventually, about a week later, they say he's been released to the next of kin and would say nothing else and did not confirm that they passed out information along. Luckily, through the local sheriffs office, we were able to contact the only found next of kin. She confirmed she had Franklin and that he was safe and healthy, and we were finally able to contact our friends only family, literal states away. The Bangor Humane Society strung us along for a week dodging questions and making false promises to help us the best they could, instead of just passing a note with a name and number to yet another grieving individual. Pathetic, we we're polite and understanding, yet ignored all the same. It seems as though animals are the only living creatures these people have Empathy for.

I recently adopted MoMo (now Charlie). I was very happy with my experience here. I found this place to be very clean and the animals appeared very clean & happy. Since bringing Charlie home, he has adapted very quickly to his new home. He is very loving & playful & I believe the love and care he received there has a lot to do with this! The staff are wonderful & very helpful. I expect Charlie & I to have a long and happy life life together! Thank you BHS!!!😻😻😻

We adopted a puppy named peprica who was 2 a little over a week ago now, The day we got her they told us she was healthy and doing well, That night I noticed that her stitches were gone and they was an open wound that was very very very infected, and so that night we had to bring her to the emergency vet because of how bad it was, it was a little over $700 to get her infection removed and stitch her back up, So I called to see what they would do and first call didn’t go well, they pretty much told me to pound sand, Then I called again at your ridiculous hours, And after a day or so I finally got a little help and so I sent them some info about the dog and what the emergency vet said and they told us that that infection has been there since before we got her, After letting them know that and having to talk to 4 different people I now need to wait and quote “maybe a few weeks” till I receive only half of my money back, These people are jokes and very unprofessional, I know that they can’t control if they get an infection but for 1 she wouldn’t of had an infection if they would have properly maintained there area for them which was just covered in dog pool and for 2 they blatantly lied to our faces about her health, You guys are dishonest and you say your there to make the animals lives better and to help take care of them but pretty much the whole staff had eaither an attitude or a pissy face on while speaking to customers wrongly, Horrbile place with bad management
