I have played soccer my entire life so I have a lot of experience and knowledge. I’m not just an upset parent who knows nothing or very little about the sport. I volunteered as a coach this year and coached 10u boys and 14u girls. Unfortunately, this is all volunteer so Some center refs are incompetent and disregard the children’s safety. As a coach I have addressed this issue with AYSO staff multiple times. However, when I have expressed to my concerns about the amount of pushing with hands/elbows that is disregarded by the center refs I felt that I was annoying the AYSO staff. We have asked multiple times if something can be done but the responses we get is “well they are volunteers…. We provide training… let us know next time and we will monitor the game…” it’s almost the end of the season and we have one player who has a broken arm and another who had to go to urgent care due to an injury at a game. Which both incidents occurred due to the center refs not making proper calls. It’s frustrating that we have to ask the center refs to watch the children’s safety. But the center refs get mad at us coaches for asking to make the proper calls related to safety. Not calls due to a play but OUR CHILDRENS SAFETY! Not all center refs are bad. There have been some good ones in the organization. In I have have expressed my appreciation to them. But unfortunately a majority of them need to utilized their training to the fullest. Not when they feel like it. I have also noticed some of these center refs are related and/or really good friends with someone on the board or staff of AYSO. I truly hope AYSO 37 Improves these issues and protect our children’s safety better. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this region.
Lastly, I’d like to say that Sonia, the team manager coordinator, has been great! Carlos, the field manager, listened to us and tried to help the best he could. Bryan Lombardi, Referee admin, listened to me today and seemed like he was counseling one of the ARs that was being disrespectful which was appreciated.

If possible find another league or region. After 3 seasons with both my son's and daughters teams I can say this league has several major ignored/unaddressed issues.
1) with the excuse of keeping the costs down referees are not supplied, each team is supposed to have parents take referee classes and volunteer. In reality your team ends up scrambling to find referees willing to refree for pay that you pay on the side or you do find parents willing to be the assistant (flag refree). The problem with this is the parents who take the assistant refree spot call glaringly one sided games to the point that at least 1 game but more likely 2 or 3 per season will be ruined due to bad calls from either no understanding of the game or extreme bias for their own child's team. The biggest stress every season is filling these refree assignments and suffering poor referees during games. I have played soccer for 30 years and have never seen such poor referees.
2) The fields are in disarray. Most fields are half dirt, and half weeds with some grass mixed it. In addition the fields are not flat, there are bumps and divits all across the fields.
3) Trying to address either of the two issues with anyone from the board is met with indifference and annoyance at questioning the poor management of the league.
Do yourself a favor and find another place to play.

Don’t sign up for Spring Season! It’s treated like a redheaded stepchild. No pictures, no support from admin, less games, spread out over more weekends. It’s a mess!
The Fall Season is better but the teams are mismatched. It seems like the preferred coaches get first pick and the remaining coaches get whatever is left over.
My son has played for 5 seasons. He’s getting really good but he has yet to be on a decent team. The coaches have been wonderful but they can only do so much.
I try to focus on the positives for the kids but it’s disappointing to watch the kids try so hard and still lose. I know it’s not all about winning but normally you win some, you lose some. Not with this league!
PARENTS: It surprises me how many parents don’t want to get involved. So many parents just use the coaches as babysitters. No one wants to volunteer. There’s no commitment to the team. (One kid never came to practice and would only come to games if they were after noon). If you can’t commit to a season, don’t sign up!
I stayed with AYSO because Santana Park is very convenient for me (PARKING SUCKS) and my son wanted to play soccer. I think being on so many losing teams finally got to him and he doesn’t want to play anymore.
I’ve spoken with the commissioner and he’s too preoccupied with Galaxy tickets and the indoor soccer place to care if the Spring teams get photos and the same treatment as Fall teams.
I would recommend that you try a different league.

My son has been playing with this region for about 5 years now. He loves the game and has had great experiences each year. He has learned a ton! This is a large, well-run program and fees are inexpensive compared to other programs within the area. Make sure you register your kids early. They hit wait-list status fast!

My son is an excellent and extordinary soccer player at age of 9. He truly has a gift. He was chosen for the select season this past season and he was all excited about it. I’m a single mother who is willing to help with planning, organizing, tent duty or whatever else. I just can’t volunteer beingba ref because of a health issue I have going on. So! Because I can’t “ref” they decided to X my son out of the select team. He is in love with soccer. It’s the only thing thaybje is so good at and just is so excited about. I had to crush his heart and take the blame for him now not being in the select team. I think this program does the exact opposite whennit comes to building kids eateem. My son now feels horrible and thinks he’s not good enough now when it wasn’t even his fault. I understand that this is a volunteer program and
I was able to volunteer. I just wasn’t able to ref. Shame on you for getting a little boy all excited to only let him down because of his single mothers medical condition. Totally disgusted.

Very organized, love the Team uniforms. Thank you for all the volunteers. It's not always easy but love that the community comes together to make it happen.

Good soccer organization but the fields are awful. I would be surprised if you didn't twist your ankle at least twice. Please work on the fields sometime next break.

Highly recommend NOT joining this league. The politics in it ruin the sport and they hand select their favorite players for their winning teams.
