I’ve been at of this church for almost 8 years now and I’m still in love with it. I’ve developed amazing friendships and I’ve always felt loved and cared for. This church feels like family. There’s always something to be a part of, so it’s fun year round. There’s no drama, no one tries to control you or run your life, it’s just a bunch of real people trying to live a better life and to give their kids a better future. The focus is Jesus and I have always felt empowered to grow a relationship with Him. They teach the bible, EVERY PART OF IT(the popular fluffy parts and the parts that rub people the wrong way). There’s a different live speaker every day.

I’m so thankful for this place.

Amazing church to belong to. People are warm and sincere, the messages are always fresh with the right balance of funny and challenging all done with an attitude of excellence. God is #1 in this place. Men's prayer on Thursday mornings has made a huge difference in my life. It's comforting to know that there are a group of men that will stand and pray with you when you need it. Kids church is amazing as well.

I'm sorry but the pastors actually are totally focus on Nostroms and the mighty dollar!! My friends invited me and I told them about what I been witnessed and didn't believe me, until they saw it for themselves!! They stopped going as many others have and biginig to do so!!

Great place, great community! This place changes peoples lives for the better. They are even providing medical services across the border and building homes for those in need in Baja as well as supporting San Diego’s surrounding communities. Awaken is a blessing to San Diego county! Go see why…

The choir was amazing but after that it went completely downhill, they started off with a backstory of Anthony Trimono, a Christian politician running for governor and proceeded for half an hour or more about voting for him, at that point I felt like I was in a political rally for this guy, and to make it worse there was loud drums thumping in the background making it hard to hear. After this the preacher came on stage and talked about prayer and I felt like I was getting a watered down lesson but still tried my best to be understanding. Towards the end of the sermon, he begins praying and casually throws in “ I see the abortion clinics shutting down in the name of God” As a Christian I believe these topics should not be brought up at church and if they wanted to show support for a Christian governor I understand that and a link to more information would of been more appropriate but it was more like a rally. Overall this church didn’t feel like a church. I’m disappointed in the way Christianity is portrayed here. ( Small and charming, but performances have unnecessary political messages woven in them. Isn’t the purpose of church to take you away from things that stress you, not throw them in your face? When it comes to praying for our leaders, 1 Timothy 2:1-4 (NIV) gives us direct instruction. Our leaders need God's help. All of them. It's important to remember that God is not surprised by flawed individuals in high places. Awaken's pastors teach the unadulterated Word of the Living God. They have a wide variety of speakers and it's wonderful. It's inspiring.

Looking for a watered down version of the bible? Then I suggest you go elsewhere.
Everyone is so welcoming and nice. The interactions I have had with the pastors and the staff have all been pleasant.
