I'm sure, like many places, people have their ups and downs with this organization but our experience, thankfully, was totally positive. After losing our two beloved dogs within a few months of each other, we adopted a little guy from a rescue in S.F. Knowing we needed another pup, and having had several negative experiences prior to our latest adoption (we are in the "older" generation), we contacted AFRP about a little gal we saw on the web. Someone was in touch with us immediately and we arranged a couple 'meet and greets'. Needless to say, she went home with us and has been with us over a year-and-a-half. We couldn't have been happier with our experience.

I love the mission of this organization. I adopted my little fur baby here several years back and he's been the best buddy a girl can have. This organization also works with local shelters to offer young and old fur critters the chance to live out their lives with people who care.

As a Pacific Grove resident, I wanted to write and commend you on your excellent management of the AFRP store. I am a 23-year local and I witnessed the store transformation from your Fountain Ave location to your current store location on Grand Ave.

The previous store was, to say it delicately, a bit messy. In the first few weeks in your new location I was able to snag a jewel of an antique that was underpriced. After a short time, however, Stephanie became manager and turned the hodgepodge store into a jewel of Pacific Grove.

Suddenly a dressing room was created, items were logically arranged, and there was (and is) a welcoming environment. What a transformation!

Kudos to Stephanie and her hard work at AFRP. I’m certain the animals are applauding, too.

I had a elderly friend who was 88 and she had became fragile and was in need of help with her 2 Lil dogs who she loved deeply.So a friend of mine told me about a place I n p.g. that would foster& adopt both dogs out to loving homes.So we called animal friends &
We were blessed , They assured her the dogs will be loved & adopted out to a loving home. I want to thank this place for caring for so many animals,& my friend has pa passed with a smile on her face .They called her a mth before & told her they went to a loving family.thanks again animal friends

I wanted to adopt a puppy and they flat out said my condo was not safe for a pet and denied me to adopt. Thankfully we didn't give up and we got a puppy Maltipoo 🐕💕 we are so in love with. I will not recommend this place to adopt a puppy from.

I adopted a kitten recently and it was overall a great experience. Initially the first 2 kittens I applied for were not available (other people applied first) but I’m glad I ended up with our kitten, she is a great. In the reviews some people mentioned having problems, but I didn’t at all (and I have never worked/volunteered for the organization). I would recommend bringing cash or check to pay for the adoption fee because there is a decent surcharge for card.

The adoption coordinator Sarah was great and responsive and a big thanks to whoever my kittens foster parents were, she is fun, brave, and has a big personality.
