I have donated 68 units of blood, the majority at this location. The staff is fine, they do their best. But I am so tired of the wait. I just walked out after waiting 30 minutes after my appointment time. The power red chair was empty the whole time so they weren’t waiting for someone to finish. There is always a wait at this location, unless you go first thing when they open. Unless they get it together at this location, I may donated my last drop of blood there.

Angelo was super friendly and put the needle in so painlessly I barely felt it. Super friendly staff!

I’ve never had a good experience at this place. My first time I waited an hour(with an appointment) only for the tech to blow up my vein. I guess after this happens they can’t take blood from either arm, so it was a complete waste of time.
As I sit here writing this, I am making my second attempt at donating(with an appointment). I walked in to find a full waiting room, with additional folks in the canteen area still waiting to give their donation. The front desk attendant told me it would likely be an hour before I could donate…I donate blood often because I am O+. I am called to donate blood very often…I donate at the Pleasanton location ALL THE TIME and I never have this experience there.
I like giving blood and don’t mind waiting a little while, but a whole hour? When they take appointments? Seems like they overbook and then leave their staff to deal with it. Super unfortunate!

I’ve donated platelets twice here now and it has become my new preferred donation center. The staff were all very kind and welcoming. The techs are exceptional at making sure you’re as comfortable as possible before, during and after the donation.
If you use the application on the phone or online, setting up an appointment is easy.

Staff ( Gladys, especially ) repeatedly have been massively unreliable, rude, passive aggressive & dismissive! Multiple times i confirmed my first appointment time and told them its essential its confirmed and reliable because I'm going in for surgery in a few weeks and can only do those dates. I was confirmed for the first session at specific date & time. And my surgeons assistant had also already contacted them to make sure they know my blood draws are priority status due to needing them for my upcoming cardiac surgery.
But after confirming appointments, then they called me back close to my first blood draw appointment date and said they booked several people during the same time so have to reschedule me for hours later in the day! I rearranged what I could in my schedule to do it. Then they called me back again and said actually the original earlier time is correct they made a mistake, and the 2nd appointment & 3rd appointments are confirmed for set times.
But when I arrived to 1st appointment a few minutes early to ensure I was on time ( after driving over an hour and across bridges because the closest one is far from where I live ) they told me they don't even have me in their schedule and there is no one there who can even do the blood draw type i need done!! Several staff repeatedly tried to send me away and said if i want i can come back later that day and they may help me..
Only because I persisted and made them contact management, over an hour later they finally got someone to do my blood donation for myself. It took them a few tries to finally get the needle into the vein.. One woman, a tall, dark haired caucasian young woman with red and black clothing was about the only person that visit who was genuinely empathic and helpful, though she wasn't assigned to do my blood draw.
When finished with the 1st blood draw, before leaving i again triple ( literally 3 times ) reconfirmed with the front desk scheduling that my 2nd appointment next week is for 3:00, which they confirmed with me as did the woman who called me earlier doing scheduling.
But when I arrived at 2:50 the next Thursday for my 2nd blood draw, I was told dismissively by front desk and several of the phlebotomists there that they don't have me scheduled until 3:30 or 3:40!!!
Before and during the entire blood draw she ( Gladys ) did ( tried, she failed getting into my vein so another - somewhat friendlier older Asian woman - phlebotomist came over and successfully got the needle into my vein )
Gladys was extremely rude, passive aggressive, snotty, dismissive and condescending to me in tone of voice and attitude.
She was acting like a nasty bratty passive aggressive unempathic child toward me the entire time. Talking in a majorly passive aggressive, snide condescending & dismissive tone. But then deliberately normal to one of her female coworkers.
She expressed zero empathy or consideration for my situation ( I am going in for a very risky 5th heart surgery in a few weeks, heart is failing, hard to breathe,, very uncomfortable physically, and I'm donating blood for myself in an urgent timeline ) and for the now repeated unreliable, flaky and dismissive way my appointments and I have been & am being treated.

I donated whole blood today, what a disappointment. Worst blood donation visit I've ever had. I'm 65 and been donating blood all my life. Unqualified tech did my blood draw, she was totally lost. I almost just got up and left, now I wish I would have. I have a HUGE bruise on my arm with swelling. Not to mention visit took twice as long as it should have. Girl next to me came in 15 minutes after me and finished her donation 15 minutes before me. Just really disappointed that they can have totally unqualified staff take care of their blood donation volunteers. I will not be going back to the Pleasant Hill donation center. If I could give this place a zero rating I would.
