I called the Amanda Foundation seeking help for a dog that I rescued from a bad backyard breeding situation. I called, not expecting a rude, condescending receptionist. There was no greeting upon pick up of the phone with a name or even a hello, but instead, I was met with a straight-up attitude and asked what I was calling for. I wasnā€™t able to ask any questions regarding the foundation. She wouldnā€™t let me get a word in and kept giving me attitude and being sarcastic. Still desperate for the well-being of the dog I rescued, I stayed on the phone. She continuously patronized me. She finally reluctantly offered me an appointment for today, 12/4/2024, but IĀ Ā was not expecting an availability today. I told her I could not drive and would need to seek travel arrangements because the vet was far from me. She then said if I couldnā€™t get her, then there was nothing she could do.
I tried to ask about anything I could do in the meantime for the dog so that I could schedule an appointment on a different day, but she again did not let me get a single word in and told me she couldnā€™t do anything. She then hung up.Ā Ā In the short 4-minute phone call, I was talked down to by that individual. The Amanda Foundation and Dr. Shippā€™s Animal Hospital do better with training your staff/ volunteers because this is uncalled for and unprofessional. Your foundation labels itself as a caring, supportive, non-judging environment for needy animals.Ā Ā But you allow staff/volunteers to talk and treat people with no manners. The individual was very rude and lack manners.

Iā€™m speaking on behalf of a friend who was unfairly turned down by the organization. She would have offered an incredible, loving home for the cats. Unfortunately, this foundation seems so entangled in its own rigid ideals that it has become exclusive, enforcing discriminatory and prejudiced policies that feel entirely subjective and arbitrary. As a result, the very cats they aim to protect are being deprived of the love and care they deserve. On a personal note, Tracyā€™s conduct was particularly disappointing. They should fire her

Amanda Foundation is such an amazing place! Amanda inspires compassion in Los Angeles through a holistic approach to animal welfare. For more than 35 years, they have been working to prevent pet homelessness and care for animals in our community. Amanda has a fully owned and operated by the Amanda Foundation,Ā Dr.Ā Shipp's Animal Hospital, which focuses on keeping your pet happy and healthy at every stage of their life using state-of-the-art veterinary equipment. I have taken my two little furry companions there since they were puppies up through their senior years. They have an excellent staff of veterinarians who provide both compassionate and comprehensive care, offering offer ultrasounds, dentistry, surgeries, x-rays and both an outside reference lab and in-house lab tests. I am so grateful to have them so close to home. Every person there feels like a family member.

So Iā€™m kinda shopping around for dental prices since my vet charges a lot and itā€™s something I can not afford. This place came up claiming either free or low cost dental work so I called. Who I spoke to made me feel like a terrible pet parent. And essentially made me feel like I needed money to even be seen there. Honestly even if I did have the money to afford this place just the condescending tone I wouldnā€™t feel comfortable coming here.

"The doctor is great, but the front desk staff is absolutely unacceptable. Not only do they display discrimination against white people, but they also have a rude attitude both in person and over the phone. They assume that because you're seeking care in Beverly Hills, you must be from there, and they treat you poorly as a result when in reality I had health issues and due to part time work ability I cannot afford full amount and when requested for a discount they told me in front of my employer who tried to help me that I don't come from the black zip code area therefore I can't get a discount.

The staff member with colored hair and piercings is particularly unprofessional, displaying a cocky attitude and a complete lack of manners. It's shocking that individuals with such short tempers and poor customer service skills are hired for this role. Additionally, they fail to respond in a timely mannerā€”you have to call repeatedly for a week just to get an answer.

This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I hope management takes action to improve the professionalism and courtesy of their front desk staff."

All the staff is amazingly compassionate and pleasant to deal with.
Dr. Glicklin has been treating my 3 rescue refugee cats from Eastern Europe. He saved Caesar's life after diagnosing him with Hyperthyroidism and Triaditis. So far, his recommendations have resulted in my poor dying cat returning to life; he gained weight and regained his mighty fur. We go in for monthly checkups and blood work, and Dr. G is always attentive and very communicative.
