I took ahead with horses a long time ago when I was younger my mom and dad would take me and it was really fun. I felt like I was riding a real horse like either cowgirl or a knight in someway I miss taking ahead with horses and it was really fun that I was able to do this,and taking it due to because my family did not want to pay for it and I wondered why I stopped taking it even though I don’t take it anymore. I’ve seen my little sister take ahead with horses and it’s great that she’s doing it too. I’m hoping to go back and do it someday, but who knows either way? It’s great that they allow kids with the disabilities to learn how to ride a horse and it’s really amazing.

I've been volunteering at AHEAD With Horses for the past few months and it's completely changed my life. The feeling you get when you see a child on a horse achieve things that doctors and teachers never thought were possible...it's indescribable. It motivates me to do more good in the world and I look forward to each visit to the AWH ranch. Not to mention, the beautiful horses!

A year ago I decided to volunteer with AWH and it has been so rewarding!
The instructors are so encouraging in working with the kids and their special needs.
The improvement I’ve seen in just one year, from hearing kids begin to speak who, when I started didn’t speak at all. It’s also very exciting to see the physical progress in some of these kids.
It just amazes me to watch some kids who can’t walk on their own, do tricks on a horse! What a joy it is to see the smiles on their faces and see the glee they get from riding a horse!

This is a great program for disabled and special needs children. I have been a volunteer since 1982. I believe in the miracles I have seen. Children who can't walk when they start lessons learn how to--I have seen first steps taken. Ones who can not speak I have heard tell their horse to "go"--that is sometimes that child's first word. Kids who can't use their hands or arms begin to learn how to feed themselves. This children's lives are improved because of the vaulting moves they learn on a moving horse. Vaulting is like gymnastics on a horse. These types of moves use the child's whole body involving legs, hands, arms. head, neck, etc. AWH works with children with all types of disabilities. Parents have been told by other therapy programs that they can not help their child but to give AWH a try. They do bring their child to AWH and AWH helps to improve the child to move, talk, and learn to follow directions. YES--AHEAD With Horses is a 5 star program.
