Been a year now since we lost my mother. Just now able to conjure up the strength and courage to come forward and say do not let your loved ones use this hospice service. They treated her like garbage the entire time she was under hospice care and would not treat her for any pain, would not even take vitals. Nurses would come out to do absolutely nothing. Dad called while I was at work one morning, mom was screaming in the background in pain. I don’t remember who was there at the time, but three representatives from Ar Hospice was there. None of them treating her pain. I told them to do their jobs but they “couldn’t do anything.” So I told dad to call an ambulance to get her to a hospital where her pain could be brought to manageable levels. That is when some woman who I will refrain from calling names, got an attitude and told me she’s under their care and I’m not allowed to call an ambulance but reiterated there was nothing they could do. I told them I was clocking out and coming home and to be out of my home before I got there, that they were fired. They refused to leave the home. Said they had to ensure she was going to the hospital. I of course warned them of the ramifications of messing with my dying mother, but I held back from what I would’ve liked to do. My mother spent her last days suffering at the hands of Arkansas Hospice and the companies they use for medical equipment (Riverside) but I will continue to tell my story to everyone so that maybe their mothers can get some peace in a way mine did not. They didn’t treat my mother with any type of respect, only humiliating her. Words cannot describe my utter hatred for this place and everyone who disgraces the healthcare field by working for this abomination of a company. If I knew and could afford a quality attorney that handles medical malpractice, this place would be public enemy #1.
