They keep trying to take my SNAP benefits away and won’t reload my card this month. We’ve been on hold for two hours today. I’ve been dealing with this for a week. They sat up a phone appointment but I guess changed it last minute to in person in a completely different county. I’ve had to wait at the Jacksonville office twice in the past week. It seems like it gets harder each time I need to renew.

Absolutely dedicate minimum of an hour to your visit here. ALWAYS get a receipt for anything you turn in. And when the worker gets upset with you and demands unnecessary things from you in order to get benefits, stick to your purpose and don’t give in or give up. Appeal denials and request explanation and reconsideration in writing. Also, don’t let the arrogance or ignorance get under your skin.

I've been here 4 times in the past 2 weeks. I have spoken with 3 front counter ladies. All were helpful and respectful. The last person (I wish I could remember her name) was especially helpful finding out and letting me know my social security number had been input wrong. I turned in everything that was requested.
The lines were almost nonexistent. Very little waiting 3 of the 4 times. My first visit was after a 3 day weekend even though the room was about 1/3 full the wait was less than 1/2 hour. The staff is efficient without making me feel rushed. And even if you forget they will be sure to give you a receipt for anything you turn in to them.

No one ever answers the phone. You get an automated machine, then disconnected after 20 minutes

As to be expected, the staff is impersonal, rather short on replies, and very perfunctory.
I went at opening time on a Monday to avoid the crowd, but even being first in line, it took over 30 mins to submit my paperwork and get my application receipt.
I knew it would take time, but the government can't be rushed. And of course, despite my paperwork being complete (every T crossed and "I" dotted), along with every document required included, I was still sent a request for more information.

I can’t get anyone to answer the phone. Even if you call 20 times
At this point if you’re looking help from them, you’re better off peddling on the street. They don’t care when they want nothing to do with you.

Terrible experience. I applied for benefits July 27 and they requested additional info by august 26 which I did, today is 10/26 and I showed up to the office only before calling the 800 # for them to tell me that I’ve been denied for failure to provide documentation. Not only did I request to speak to a supervisor but a caseworker lied and said I received a paycheck in august but couldn’t provide proof. I sat down with Kimberly Sullivan which started out somewhat pleasant and then turned ugly when she no longer wanted to hear my concerns about the system being flawed and the many mistakes they made on my behalf to not provide benefits. I will escalate this up to the highest of highest until I am heard since Kimberly insisted on talking over me, repeatedly being rude and making excuses about “the system.” I am so displeased with the encounter I had today at DHS Jacksonville. Why hire people incompetent enough that they can read basic things? You are in a position to help but only make people jump through additional hoops just to get what they rightfully deserve!

No one answered. Just hold on hold until the line goes silent and eventually hangs up. The poor don't get your tax dollars. DHS is a scam. Funds are allocated to the rich. The poor are used as a cover. Shameful. They have no accountability.
