The Great Escape Adventure is an amazing organization and I highly recommend that anyone with Stage 4 cancer attend one of the escapes. I have attended two escapes with my dear friend who has Stage 4 cancer and the opportunity has given us so much in return. Our friendship is stronger, we have made new friends and reconnected with old ones. The founder and her daughters are the kindest, most genuine and caring people you can meet. They go above and beyond to provide a meaningful experience for EVERYONE participating. Check it out, you will not be disappointed!!!

The Great Escape Adventure is an amazing organization, completely volunteer run. It provides people with metastatic (stage 4) cancer an opportunity to forget their illness and go out and have fun for a week. Last May we took a cruise to the Caribbean with about 40 people including cancer patients and their guests. There was so much support, hugging, dancing, crying, laughing and lifetime bonding. I felt so comfortable talking to people in the same situation as myself (having a terminal illness). I would highly recommend this organization. The Great Escape Adventure is a fantastic organization geared to assisting adults with metastatic (stage four) cancer to take a “break” from the continuous ratrace of treatment by indulding in R&R time to heal the mind, body, and spirit by traveling to various destinations with like minded peers. The beauty of joining an “escape” with this group is the degree of normalcy it brings- while participating in an escape, you may be with your peers as much or as little as you choose. There are no “pink parades” or other activities that many metastatic cancer thrivers frown upon. You have the option of traveling alone, or with your caregivers. The TGEA team has streamlined their process to ensure safe, worry free travel by coordinating with various agencies to ensure the best mix of fun and practicality, such as Total Travel & Events, Carnival, and Hilton Hotels.

Some of the best memories I have of the last three years have been with this organization! I highly recommend calling them or checking their website to see if you qualify for their escapes!

I know from my personal relationship with the founder, this organization has done wonders for her to be able to give a smile or a cherished memory to someone else in her boots. As a stage 4 cancer patient herself she knows the every day struggles of test after test, poke after poke. The most important thing to you is "not how many years in your life, but how much life in your years"
