This is an awesome facility & newly opened as per contractual agreement with the city of Tucson for at least the 2021 calendar year, from what I understand. Don't be cold out there, come on down by 4:30 PM nightly & you're good to go! Don't be any later than 6:00 PM or you WILL miss out! The cots are comfy with a sheet & blanket (bring a lint brush, they're disaster blankets!) & the food & service are all STELLAR! If you're familiar with the staff over at the Hospitality House on 1001 N Main Avenue at Speedway, then your favorites will be over here working as well! So far I've counted Margie, Cynthia, Steve, Jill, Captain O, & Jason here as well in my three nights here so far.
Bringing in your own cell phones & food is okay to do here, just make certain you check in any knives and/or weapons & you'll get them back when you ask for them in the morning. There's a fairly nice 48" TV in the large main sleeping room with 24 men's cots at present. Then there's probably 12-16 men's cots in the main men's hall, four in the back room, & one good-sized women's dorm off the men's main hall that sleeps around 8-12 women only. Dinner is served promptly at 6:00 PM with lots of leftover's, & breakfast is served at 6:00 AM, & again, the leftover's abound with plenty of fresh coffee served at both meals.
If you want to shower, the van will take you to the Hospitality House at 1001 N Main Ave at 5:00 PM then it leaves there at 5:30 PM to come back here again in plenty of time for dinner. Tell them when you check in before 4:30 PM that you want to go if you do - they only van shuttle six clients per trip. At 8:00 AM the van will shuttle you back to Hospitality House from here again for a shower or to do laundry if you request either or both, but do speak up and ask staff by 7:00 PM the night before if you want to go. There's room to store your stuff too - just ask Captain O or other staff the night before & you don't have to lug it around all day IF YOU ARE RETURNING the same night.
So the hours here are 4:30 PM - 8:00 AM, then with a ride back to The Ronstadt if you need it! Pretty cool & just a fantastically relaxed situation with staff very chill too! You'll like the faces of Salvation Army here that you're not familiar with! Wonderful! Everyone is very well-behaved here & that's about all you need to be able to fit in here. Good food & plenty of it! Cigarette breaks every hour on the hour & the last one's at 10:00 PM & then it's lights out. DON'T be COLD! Warm your bones here! We're waitin' on ya!

Is this place even open? My daughter is an athlete and can't even play next door where she stays. I always see lights and cars but no people. Anyone have an answer to this place being closed down or not?

Pretty good. TV always blasting. Food ain't much. But overall pretty good for a Tucson homeless shelter. Warm clean.
