King Cab and Alaska Cab - Fairbanks, Alaska

My mother and I visited Fairbanks, Alaska prior to a cruise in early September 2024. As we exited our hotel, the cab was sitting outside disembarking another customer.

The driver kindly asked us to wait for a few seconds while he finished up his business, and as we proceeded in getting in the car, we were met with a pleasant surprise—his writing companion was a little black Chihuahua named Spooky.

The little dog was the highlight of our morning and the driver who goes by initials that I just can’t remember right now was simply wonderful. He took us on a quick trip to Walmart and even agreed to wait for us as we did lightning quick shopping to return back to the hotel as we were soon to leave the city on a charter.

I did not want too much time to pass without sharing our account of this wonderful individual and his traveling companion. He is a true asset to King Taxi and he was kind enough to take a photo that I told him I would post online with a positive review.

At the last minute I needed a ride to the airport. After speaking with the dispatcher she told me my ride would be there in 20 minutes, maybe less. In about 10 minutes time my cab picked me up and delivered me to the airport. The driver was friendly and knowledgeable. I will use their services again if I am in Fairbanks.

The male dispatcher is a rude and careless liar. Use Uber or Lyft.

I've used them for years and the cabbies are usually fine, though I've had several try to force me into conversations. I don't deal with too much that's inappropriate outside of one's inability to tolerate political silence one time.

Dispatch has consistently caused problems in my ability to get a cab over years. "We won't do street corners, we need an address" doesn't take HIPAA into consideration and the insulting me for taking time to find a nearby address already made me dislike them. Considering half the town is a grid system, I assume the entire company is navigationally incompetent and relies on restrictive computer systems at the inconvenience of the consumer.

Today he decided to lie to me when an acquaintance requested specific cabs be avoided. If he'd said "These are the only two on the road" the first time, a potentially dangerous situation could have easily been avoided. I don't question why others avoid specific people, but given that restraining orders exist, I'm really pissed that I was lied to instead of told the situation was unavoidable so a different option could be considered.

He's been an impatient jackass that snipes insults at customers ever since the pandemic, but now he's made me consider their company unsafe. I hope he learns his lesson before someone is harmed by his carelessness and I really hope a real competitor shows up so I don't need to put up with him on occasion anymore.

Oh boy, what a horrible experience. The lady that picked up / dispatcher, barely gave me the time of day and hung up so quickly. Completely rude and unresponsive. It's unfortunate because the person that gave me a ride from the airport gave me a card that said they were 24/7 and that was so promising and proved to be less than reliable.

Landed in Fairbanks on 7/10/24
My boyfriend called for a taxi to pick me up. They contacted me and said they were running late. I said no problem I’m going to go to the bathroom. I get a call from them as I’m in the bathroom and I text them that I was in the bathroom. When I was done and went outside they were not there. They text me saying if people would answer their phone then they would have an easier time picking up their people. I told him I was in the bathroom and now standing outside and explained what I was wearing. He text back have a wonderful day. So he left me. No taxis were outside! I walked to the nearest hotel a mile away. I called the owner and he said he’d do something about it yet I don’t know what that would be or if he did.

My experience was extremely bad and taxi driver totally rude. I would not use this service

Wally is the best Cabbie I've had in decades. Very nice and polite, clean car, my client loved that it looked like a race car. I called all the cab companies in Fairbanks, and one said they would help in 30 minutes, but when I called back, they did not answer or return my call. So I made this call and got Wally. Wally saved the day and made it possible for my client to be able to get to the North Poles Santa House. I highly recommend Wally as he is top-notch and has jewelry that is made locally in Fairbanks. I got your number, Wally, and will call you when in Fairbanks again. Using Wallys services was cheaper than Uber and fast than a no call back. Again, Thank you, Wally.

Refused to schedule Airport pickup 1hr ahead. No explanation. Just flat out said “No” and hung up on me twice

We used King Alaska cab as my transportation method for aurora watching. Even though I called them 5-6 hours ahead, on a Friday, I was able to schedule round trip (our return trip was scheduled for 2 AM and we had no issue). Both our drivers and the person who took our reservation were so friendly! They schedule your driver more-less 15-30 min prior to your pick-up time and send you a link to track your driver. I would recommend them!
