On Friday June 21, 2024 my daughter experienced a seizure while traveling from Seoul, Korea. The plane was diverted to Providence Hospital in Anchorage and Jylian was provided with emergency care. When I arrived early Saturday morning many hotel rooms were unavailable. The hospital made arrangements for us to stay on Hickel House Campus until our return flight on Sunday. Our experience at Providence and Hickle House was exceptional. The hospitality was heaven sent. Every person we were in contact with seemed genuinely concerned with our well-being. The hospital ER staff, security, Uber driver, receptionist, housekeeping and maintenance as well as other guests all met us at our need with compassion and grace. Our difficult and vulnerable position was met with the highest standard of care that I can only describe as God sent. My daughter and I are forever grateful for your willingness to minister to us such loving compassion. Thank you!

This place helps so many families and loved ones of those in the hospital, and those recently out of , or going to, the hospital. Especially those from out of town. What a great place. Thanks

My family and I are forever grateful for this place and for the peace of mind it provided us. We traveled from Skagway for appointments and treatment. I was able to juggle my family needs bouncing back between the hospital and our room with easy access. There was no need to drive, find parking, or pay additional parking. The room was very affordable, and the amenities made for a comfortable stay amidst the medical stress. We can't say "Thank you" enough for the friend who recommended them or for the accommodation provided. Heroes definitely work here and at the hospital. Thank you, thank you, thank you! God bless all who work, assist volunteer, and travel here.

Staff was a little awkward but this was exactly what I needed to be close to my kid while he recovers in the hospital. They have a full communal kitchen, laundry on site, a kids play room, an exercise room, and a generous comfortable lobby

We had such a good experience staying at the Hickel House. Like most people I’m guessing, we needed to find a room on short notice after being flown up from Soldotna. Hickel House was able to get us in, and the accommodations were very comfortable. It almost feels like home (there’s a kitchen, play room, playground, laundry, etc.)

The woman working the night we checked in was also amazing (7/14). She went above and beyond to help us when we needed it. It has been a very stressful few days, so I haven’t been keeping track of names unfortunately, but I’m sure all of their staff is wonderful!

The rooms are nice but I was told that family of patients in Providence that are more than 50 miles away get free vouchers to stay there. They refused us free vouchers. They made us pay over $100 a night. When everyone else I saw had vouchers. They treated us horribly.

The place is there to help you relax and feel comfortable. This is a huge benefit and blessing to patients, their family(ies) or caretakers. Take care of the place, if you have some change make a donation and be sure to thank the staff and organization. Remember the place is not a "right" it is a privilege and honor to have for the community and those in need.
