The CHDC has taken great care of our 60 yr. old Autistic son for 47 of those years (he moved there at age 13). We are very thankful for the medical care & loving staff, as he cannot report his ailments himself. We praise God that such a place exists!

CHDC took great care of a family member for almost 50 years. They are people who care and try to do the best for their residents. In particular, Janie Johnson (retired) and Rene Rains were the caseworkers I worked with and they were/are both remarkable women who go way out of their way to make sure the residents are as happy as possible. Rene understands that residents can't always speak for themselves and took it upon herself to not only speak for the residents, but communicate with the family, and to just "be there" when family is not. She is a gifted and caring human being and my family was lucky to have her.

I was a resident there from April until the end of February. 2018/2019. While there there was very few good people there, mostly whom to which were teachers (mrs. Regina, mrs. Jessica, and mrs. Kay)
A few others were staff ( Sandra Roberson, stephine Owens, Distiny Chyanne Meeks, Jorden, crystal, la Rae, Becky (Medical) , and, Denese. From 28/26 Cedar, and TA 13. Once they figured out I could understand what they were saying it was like they looked for reasons to pick on me. They knew I cared about other residents there, and could and would stand up for them. One day a staff in my house was brushing someone’s hair when another girl started making loud noises which was her way of saying hi I need something because she couldn’t talk. A staff member there got upset and hit her with a brush. I reported it to the shift coordinator, they were SUPPOSED TO report it to their bosses but to me they just acted like they didn’t care and was just trying to get off the phone with me. Then when I reported something that happened other staff that was there stood up for the one that did it and said of that girl that told you that she is a lier ; that’s not true , she didn’t do that. Then to get back at me they would not follow my food plan. I was supposed to be given 20 almonds , 14 triskets, 16 oz of fluid a meal . They gave me 4 almonds and five triskets. I told several different people, but no one cared, well no one except my mom , but she didn’t live there she didn’t work there so she could not do anything about it. Staff threw shoes at residents, used foul language and talked about inappropriate conversations around them. Enough to were a couple of the kids attempted to say a couple of those things. The staff snuck food to residents which didn’t follow the meal plan created for them. I was brought in to the investigation off and was questioned about the reports I made , but at the end was still labeled as the trouble maker when all I wanted to do was help the kids who couldn’t stand up for themselves. I got to the point that I wrote a letter to disability rights and they came to talk to me about the letter but at the end the supported CHDC and said to find me a different place to go , which I am very glad on one side because I live by myself now with wavier, but on the other hand it didn’t help the other kids that are getting abused who knows how often.

They loose good people who are hard workers the staff mistreat u and get away with it which is wrong I'm a hardworking women they wanted to fire me cuz I couldn't get my Dr. In town to get paperwork they need cuz I failed my test then wanted to try and move me to laundry or kitchen I want to keep doing my work I love doing

My folks on my mom's side of the family has been working over there since for years until they have retired. I got the best managers & coworkers in my total care team.
