I've gone to Water Aerobics here many times, which are so fun, and it's easy on the knees. I've also taken several of my grandchildren, and the open swim time is a blast. In one instance, the lifeguard helped my grandson when he had a little trouble with the deep water, so I know they're safe in the lifeguards' hands.

I used to love going to this place, but maybe because I've never actually had to talk to the employee's they were disrespectful when I was just trying to understand what was wrong with riding Rollerblades on floors that are already harshly skidded I understand no skate boarding and such but rollerblading is considered a real sport as anything else in that establishment is I was respectful but was given backhanded responses by the secretary and other employee's.

Absolutely stellar! We LOVE the Rec Center! The younger kids and my wife swim, and me and my older boys work out! There's a shooting range indoors, a CrossFit type area, two rooms with free weights, and one room with machines. There's a spinning room for cyclists, and a couple racquetball courts as well. Gymnastics, basketball, yoga, dance classes.... You name it, they've got it.

What a great place! Everything you could want in a gym and a recreation center, and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The front desk people are especially nice. For what you get, this is one of the best bargains around. To me this is the best part about living in Evanston!

This is a good place to come, whether you live in Evanston or are just in town for a visit.
There are a variety of fitness classes, for all levels. The pool is great for kids, families and for lap swimming. There is a track, extensive weight rooms and even pickle ball courts.
Especially during the long, cold winters, the rec center is a great place to move your body.

Good place to get a workout in. Very old and out dated, and the steam room is never in service.

The management and the lifeguards here are reprehensible. Please note that this is a city funded "business". They can do whatever they want because your money doesn't actually matter.

I was on the track as a junkie-looking janitor rudely called me over with a clipboard demanding to know if I had checked-in with at the front desk with my membership card. I had. She then proceeded to proudly tell me how many people she had kicked off the track that day... I asked, "Can I go now?"

I thought I was alone with absolutely hating the rec, but the moment I began talking about my multiple horrific experiences, everyone in my neighborhood agreed that they also stay far far away.

Hope they figure something out. Rumor has it, we have people with actual money, not just unemployment checks, moving to Evanston.

Hoping they build something fantastic! I will gladly pay, a lot, for decent lifeguards!
