I've interacted with this food bank to put together "food boxes" on 3 different levels (many occasions): as a leader in corporate America, a representative in local church and as a local volunteer strictly as a citizen. They are flawlessly professional, fun and efficient! Take your kids here and teach them civil involvement or take your company there to encourage "giving back". Great folks. Talk to Dennis, Manager.

I have had the opportunity to volunteer at the South Michigan Food Bank the past few months and I can easily say that it's an amazing place to spend my time! The staff is friendly and welcoming. The senior volunteer coordinator Jess and assistant to the volunteer coordinator Alex did a great job of showing us the impact we were making with our efforts. They also kept me very engaged along with the other volunteers. I will be back again soon to spend time with the Battle Creek Food Bank family!

I have volunteered here twice now, and both times have been absolutely wonderful! The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and are great at finding the best place for you to fit in as a volunteer!

I would highly recommend volunteering here! Even if you don’t need the volunteer hours, volunteers here! Why? Because the work they are doing is amazing and it’s with the help of volunteers that they can continue to feed families and individuals in need!

So thankful for SMFB and the workers & volunteers. The Fort Custer food drive is operated like a well-oiled machine with many friendly faces. We always end up with a nice haul, too! The line can get kind of long but it moves pretty quick, especially if you "check in" online- they just ask name, phone, address and #of residents in the home. You can pick up for multiple families. I never feel judged.
