I thrift all around Austin and other cities and have never encountered such a rude worker. I wasn’t able to get her name but it was an older lady with brown hair. We were going into the dressing room and she rudely walked over and snapped at us. She told us the limit was 4 and if there was a line we would have to rotate with the line with every 4 items. Rules are not a problem however we were the only people told this and she was very rude about it. Then she stood there and watched me sitting by the door as if I was a child. We were over there for about 10 minutes and no other person was told in that manner nor the same thing. In fact, she told another customer to just “hang her extras on the door outside and grab them”. It completely ruined my shopping and thrifting experience and we ended up putting almost all of our clothes back without even trying on. There was also a child that was disabled and was screaming. A male worker walked by and said “welcome to goodwill, the daycare”. I will never be back to this location. Very disappointed in your employees. This isn’t a Louis Vuitton store, get a grip.

Brought a nice table with 4 legs unattached with all the hardware. It was too big to put in my 🚙 SUV. Not only did the OCD man who was taking the donations was rude and told me to get back in my car and wait till the other car pulled away, (We were unloading our car and trying to set the boxes near the door and out of the way.) but told me “we don’t have any tools (screwdrivers) to put the table together, you have to do it and then bring it back. The manager doesn’t allow us to use tools on the premises.” Salvation Army is where I donate my items now. GW has too many restrictions and have jacked all their prices up.

Putting aside that Goodwill is an evil empire to begin with, but this specific location is plagued with one of the worlds biggest Karens as a general manager I have ever seen in my life, not just size wise but attitude as well, not to mention that her store is responsible for completely polluting. The Lake Creek, creek And surrounding businesses with a random garbage that they refused to pick up, I spend almost an hour every day, picking up after their garbage that ends up in the creek and has already poisoned it past the point of coming back

My husband and I wanted to donate my kids old bed. They refused to take nice wood bed that my kids out grew. It had to be assembled in order for them to take it the manager said. So we would have had to put it together then they would have taken it the manager said. They length of this bed is almost 10 feet long with the attached drawers. It weights almost 500lbs together because it’s a wood bed.

This bed put together takes 5+people to carry it and move it without breaking it.

Then the manager then said they don’t have room to take it after we started to put it together and refused to help load it back up. Not right and not fair since this bed was being donated for free when the original price of this wooden bed was almost $5000.00

This bed is in great condition for being 10 years old and they flat out refused.

Until about 3-4 months ago, I was able to buy a large number of books. In my opinion, the Goodwills in Texas were among the best when it came to books. But all of a sudden, the number of books on the shelves decreased. Now I can only buy about 10% of what I used to over time. I’m trying to understand the reason 🤔 The staff, by the way, are all very kind and attentive…

Goodwill is a nice place to bargain shop. Several earlier reviws of locations in South Central Austin combined with the visit at this location confirm the Patron is Valued, the Goods being sold have been Quality Assured and showcases Goodwill's efforts Not to Warehouse & Stockpile merchandise.

Too, some bargaining—within reason—is welcome but will absolutely require Management level Staff approval.

Interestingly, I've noticed merchandise brands and styles vary with the section of town the store is located and the ease donors experience with drop off donations.

All said, the Quality of merchandise Does Not vary with geographic location. All that makes it to a location's showroom for sale is usable.
I like the fact Goodwill Does Not Discriminate In Any Way, Not Even subtly, Not Even Under-The-Table Or In Any Sideways Manner so as to mask.
The quality of what's available to us does not change.

ThanX Goodwill for All you do and for the Staff that ARE Goodwill.

Peace ✌️

Shame on you Goodwill pre-pandemic your prices we're reasonable and doable however after everyone on this planet went through this pandemic everyone's trying to play catch-up I get that. But shame on you Goodwill really a candle that is half burnt with no Wick for 499?
