Place is a scam, units are run down, can't keep staff, will lie right to your face. Don't return phone calls, and will threaten and intimidate you into compliance. I wouldn't live there, or work there.

Good luck getting anywhere w/ the "customer service" folks at the Dwelling Place. Not only do they very rarely answer their phones during business hours, if you manage to actually get someone on the line, they are incredibly rude and unhelpful. My brother was living at the 21 Weston apts for a year or so. He was mentally ill and I was trying to help him on several occasions. The people at the front desk of the Dwelling Place treated me like I was a total idiot. Worst customer service ever. I do not recommend this place to anyone w/ a family member suffering from mental illness.

Westshore in whitehall USE to be a nice community!!! I am not sure what is going on here, but they need Christi back! Christi managed westshore professionally and ethically! She did not tolerate disrespectful and disruptive behavior!! Now? It's gone to he'll, and the managers they have had since Christi, I have to look outside because the noise and the drama, if I didn't know any better I would think I was on Broadway in the Muskegon Heights on a Saturday night!!

This is an awesome agency for those of us in need of low-income subsidized housing. I rented from their New Hope Homes for 4 years and loved it! Beautiful home. The managers and maintenance staff were always really friendly. They take great care if their properties. I also have 2 friends living in their Weston Apartments and have spent a lot of time there and they both have really nice apartments and tell me the staff there is really friendly too. I would strongly recommend any of there properties.

If I could give less than 1 I would. Here’s why. My kiddo’s father has been living at an Independent Assisted Facility for 3 years now. Always paid on time and thought they were great that is until he hit End of Life Hospice with hours to maybe a day to live. It’s at the end of the month and I asked if we would have to pay for a full month if he passes before the 5th when the rent is due. Not only to I have to pay a full month but they also require a 30 day notice of Terminating the Lease!! So here I may have to pay not one but two months of rent! I was also told that because he doesn’t have a Living Will filed with Probate that the minute his body is removed they LOCK HIS DOOR with a security lock and nothing can be removed until Probate Court orders it ( $1000+) . He only has the one kiddo and no one is arguing that all of his things go to his kiddo!!

Why didn’t they tell us this from the beginning? Why didn’t they tell us when he entered Hospice Care? Why did they wait until he’s knocking on death’s door? Completely Uncaring and Wrong!!!

I rented from Dwelling Place at their New Hope Homes on the Southwest side for 4 years and cannot say enough good things about the property and the company. Dwelling Place provides mostly reduced/subsidized housing, so even some of the community's poorest members like myself can have a beautiful home. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Anytime I needed to put in a work order, maintenance staff was able to resolve the issues in a timely manner. Grounds and common areas are kept clean and very well maintained. Most properties, including mine, include central air and other modern appliances. Honestly I wish I could've lived here longer, however I was forced to move out of state for family purposes. If I do move back to Grand Rapids I would definitely consider renting from one of the Dwelling Place's properties again, and would strongly recommend it to others.

I lived here and it was not a great experience. They have too much authority and rules that are not applied to everyone . So if you are a free thinker don't need the mom n dad aspect run the other way they are shady only at dwelling place properties does a land lord have that much control over you and your guests. They tear apart friendships and your confidence in your self once you are on the barred list it almost impossible to get off of it. 5 yrs since I lived there and in order to visit my friend I have to jump through hoops. Take classes to visit my friends ? Where else in the city does this happen other then a nursing home . If you value your freedom and civil right do not sign that lease

(( DO NOT APPLY AT FERGUSON! ITS A HEALTH DEPT NIGHTMARE! MNGMT(BRANDY) DOES NOTHING ABOUT ANY PROBLEM HERE))
The Building Rules Policy is awful for the residents, at least at FERGUSON APARTMENTS. For example, if you report an ongoing problem with another resident they will tell the other person who wrote them up and then, conveniently you get a bad write up on your record as well. They do this so that when you've finally had enough of the drunken, mentally challenged screaming, hitting their walls like they're off their medication residents. You can't! Because you have a bad record for no good reason.
Whoever came up with their rules had a learning disability. NICE PAINT JOB GUYS! NOW THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT CAN SEE THE MOLD ON THE WALLS! DON'T APPLY@FERGUSON
