Working in the Mission Thrift Stores was good at first, Until a Different director Jeff got hired, Pushing me & others to the limit and very controlling. Prices are sky high on items that was given to them. Having a director as my supervisor and both our supervisors his wife was a joke, Took her husband's side always. They have the biggest turn over with employees I've ever seen, That's due to pressure on us and low pay. Director is not Christ centered one bit. I'm thankful that the Mission houses homelessness and other souls but the Mission Thrift is corrupted. Needs to go back to letting the Mission run it instead of a company out of Tennessee. Mel Trotter getting robbed paying another company in Tennessee to run their Mission Thrift Stores . I do miss and love other coworkers there. I gave over 100% of myself to MTMT.

Mel Trotter is such an amazing organization. I've had the privilege to volunteer, along with many wonderful volunteers, on Thanksgiving day, serving our community. Mel Trotter provided a delicious homemade meal to the guests. I was nothing but impressed beyond measure. It was such an honor to serve our community, and to volunteer for such a wonderful organization. I cannot wait to do it again next year!!

April 7th 2025 well technically April 8th 2025 at 12:30 in the morning I had just got done working at 8 hours shift at McDonald's on west river dr and I went all the way to mel trotter on a bicycle which took almost an hour to get there only for them to tell me that their beds were at capacity and they turned me away so I slept in the cold

So grateful for the Hot Shower truck helping others feel better. Grateful for all the organization partnering with Mel Trotter to provide Hope for a future by using their hands and feet to care for the least of these with their skills.

I nearly starved to death it was not provided with enough food. I was any program it was a full-time resident. I was kicked out temporarily. 7 days later I was found unconscious in a hotel parking lot. I woke up in the hospital after I was in a coma for one week. I nearly died twice before Awakening from my coma. The current managers and personnel of Mel trotter ministries cannot follow through and obey the beautiful mission statement that Mr trotter gave for his mission. To shelter feed and restore all the needy. I was needy and then victimized by the administrators. In particular by Vernon my case manager. I'm now wheelchair bound because of the muscle atrophy, entract for the foreseeable future in a Detroit nursing home.I will pray for their souls in Jesus name. Amen.

This place is the best shelter, the complete opposite of wayside. there's no mice, roaches, or bedbugs. we also got our own room. they even heat treat your stuff. the food is decent, they also give you a list of places that take ebt. one of the front desk ladies named Tish is the best worker they have, she's really nice! the only complaint is that they don't help with much but neither does wayside

They help who they want to help plus when winter come they treat u like animals.. just left there Feb 2025.. they staff is horrible very unorganized.. I'm from Mississippi they showed me the least amount of help.. they older guy Roy was super duper racist

Our family loved being able to help out and serve and this year. We know you are always trying to review things to help improve the event. A few things that we had questioned was the parking, we would have appreciated better instructions how to get into the parking garage. The prep for the meal is always helpful but it seems like setting out the salads before people were set seemed to be very wasteful. We noticed a lot of salad being thrown away, and with all the other main meal food being thrown away was quite a concern. We understand the health code but feel like there has to be a better solution. We did have a nice couple at our table that really appreciated the meal, they would have been perfect situation to offer them the leftover food. We also had a couple of other volunteers that sat out able and ate as well as another person that seemed to be know by a few people from Mel Trotter. Like I said earlier we did enjoy ourselves and love coming to this event every year but just a few things we had questioned.
