As the former Driver Supervisor for Washington County I can say from personal experience that this organizations days are numbered. Between the misappropriation of funds that required them to be bailed out by receiving a loan of one million dollars from a private benefactor to the catty fighting between directors and the new CEO. In January of 2025 5 of the directors either quit or were forced out. Due to the mismanagement of funds they are being forced to downsize their holdings which includes selling the Machias office at VIP Drive. Makes me question how they can operate effectively in Washington County without having a hard presence anymore. The transportation department itself has turned into the biggest joke. The turnover rate for office staff is unreal, but if you worked there you would understand why. Leadership is no longer on your side, instead they will promise you the moon and than make excuses as to why they can’t follow through after you’ve done what was asked of you. Micromanaging is at an all time high and there’s no praise to be given, only criticism and nitpicking. The only reason I didn’t give this company a one star is because of the drivers that worked for me. Every Washington County driver does their job with no complaint and to the best of their ability. However, with the closing of the Machias office those of us that worked there were given two/three options: work of of the Ellsworth office (1+ hour away), be demoted, or quit. I choose the latter because I was tired of the utter disrespect the company has shown in the last 6 months.

Their transportation service is a complete joke.
We've been set up for rides as well as another child that live right down the street from us but they cancel my son's ride EVERYDAY..... He has a standing medical order requiring him to be on the list and they still cancel and skip him everyday.

Not gonna lie doing this very passively. I'm not the one to do something like this but I'm desperate. We have a kid at home and we have already had days where temps fell below freezing. I sent in the application and such at the end of Novemeber got a call on the 9th that they needed a missing paystub. I sent it within minutes of them calling me. No response or anything. Called yesterday and I guess only one person is in charge of emails and wasn't in yesterday? And they are in today but because of hollidays are swamped. Which I get I do but at the same time it's been nearly a month since they asked for it told me it was actively in the review process but I'm being put on the back burner... If I could afford to heat my home on my own I wouldn't of filed for it. I understand it's busy and I know there is budget cuts and stuff so I'm sorry for doing this but I'm desperate and I'm hoping someone that cares is going to see this and help me. Instead of instructing me again to call at a later date. People on the phone have been nice and I did have help for a couple years from this its why despite my negative experience this year I'm still giving two stars instead of one. I'll update this later depending on how long it takes to resolve the issue. I'm not even expecting a yes or no on approval I just want to make sure they have my email and that we are good to get the review process moving again.

My daughter attends DCP’s Headstart Program on Avery Lane. I was so nervous to put her in child care as I’ve heard so many horror stories, but this place is absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t have hoped for a better school for my child. Miss Amanda is a wonderful person and teacher. I have witnessed her holding, rocking, and comforting young children who are struggling to be away from their parents. She truly cares for these children. All of her teachers are lovely, honestly! DCP is also an amazing nonprofit organization that helps out so many families in need. They have helped my family put food on the table, pay our utility bills, and provided us with Christmas gifts when the budget was tight. If you are in need, this is a great place to reach out to!

I was so excited to be a Lead Teacher in their Head Start program. I was worried there would not be planning time, but I was told every other Friday was for planning. It wasn't. There was A LOT of overtime work & no overtime pay. There was also no union supporting us which is probably why they get away with not paying overtime. I gave 3 stars because I liked the people at my school.

I have a colonoscopy today six and a half hours from now. I was told a driver would be in contact with me yesterday. I still have no idea what time, or even if, my ride will be picking me up since no one has called me yet. I just finished doing the barbaric prep and pray that I don't have to do it again because of a missed ride. They should be more diligent about delivering what they promise. Now I'm worried if I can get a ride at all and if I will miss my appointment. Very unhappy with them.

Can I give them zero stars? They're not able to distribute fuel assistance funds in a timely manner (i.e., during winter when people need it); appointments take 2 to 3 months after you contact them to be schedueld; the fuel assistance program is IMPOSSIBLE to reach by phone and worst of all - they missed the scheduled phone appointment I was finally able to schedule. I did receive a cryptic voice message from Jen or Jess? saying she needed to "play" with my appointment time (her unfortunate word choice not mine) and a phone number to call -- which of course rang and rang and rang and rang with no answer. I tried for 2 hours. Federal funds for fuel assitance were doubled this year; they have plenty to distribute, but DCP plays time and waiting games for some bizarre and unknown reason. I have no confidence they will ever come through.

I believe they are CAP. They help with getting people on Mainecare to medical appointments- not sure how they are running during the pandemic. They assist low income families with heating as well as other community action programs. A great help when we had no car to get to appointments and not enough money for winter heating bills.
