Been to Messicks several times while doing a project at a family home in Colusa. Overheard one of their employees talking about particle physics, and he knew his material. THIS is the place I want to be shopping - always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and local. just wish they would expand their open hours. 6 stars for this hidden gem!

My mom needed mouse traps so I accompanied her to Ace Hardware. We were greeted by an employee who was very friendly and showed us to the traps. He asked if we'd felt the earthquake right before we walked in. We had been driving so we hadn't. He pointed out all of the swinging signs as we headed up to the register. He checked us out and told us to be safe. I love our Ace Hardware never once have I had a bad experience.

Good store friendly helpful employees lots of them but they just never really have what I'm needing no matter what it is either they don't carry it anymore or they are out till the next order comes in it's still a great store and anyone of the employees can help with any question and always willing to go and check on anything very helpful people a real hometown kinda place where you are helped with whatever you need but without smothering you to death ,great around place for your basic home needs as well as gardening supplies and paints department where they will still mix the paint for you most places stopped mixing and if you paint like I do the off the shelf stuff is never the right shade of your needs but ace will hook you up perfectly and as always thanks for reading , ace is the hometown place really!!

This is one of the best hardware stores I have been to. Owing to being in farm country and also being the only game in town, their selection is well above average. I'm often surprised when I need something that I can't imagine any brick-n-mortar store carrying, and find they have exactly what I'm looking for. Add this to a friendly, close-knit staff that seems knowledgeable about everything in the store, and you have a top-notch hardware store.
